If you're interested in modern poetry, this a great course! Interesting selection of poems (including the more shocking stuff by Olds and Sexton!).

She takes attendance but it is not for grades, you have few opportunities to get grades, a few essays and small debate and maybe a grammar quiz... study poems and short stories and a few novels, I only read the ones I planned to write an essay on! Nice women! Marks based on her overall opinion on her essay no real rubric

I am a science student taking Lisa's American Literature class and am really enjoying it. She goes over readings and has class discussions so that everyone understands (not just the English majors), which makes you feel comfortable in the class. I definitely recommend any English or non-English majors to take one of her classes!

Extremely dry books, especially "Fit To Print" a highschool grade book on how to write an essay and use punctuation. Seeing as Im in University this was a complete waste of money, and time in class. The exam was 3 essays in 3 hours. Save yourself the trouble English does not have to be this boring!!

Terrible, dry lectures, nothing of note is talked about in this class. Never specified the requirements of papers and is an ridiculous marker. Focuses more on whether your MLA format is perfect then the content of your writing. The things she expects for MLA format mac book's wont allow you to do.

The most approachable, friendly professor I have ever encountered. N. is encouraging and encourages students to interpret texts in different ways. The success of her lectures really depend on student participation. Never hesitate to offer your own interpretations - she loves it!

very helpful when you visit her during office hours - she will look over your introduction before you even hand it in. her lectures can be a little dry but if you force yourself to listen she really clarifies the reading. Fair marker, helpful comments - if your thesis is clear & well-structured, she wont mind if you go over the word limit.

Dr.Narbeshuber is wonderful! She has an unbelievably interesting area of research [teaches American literature with an emphasis on the gothic]. Academic interests aside, she's a great prof. Very laid back, easy to talk to, encouraging, but also demanding and challenging when it comes to written work. Phenomenal!

Not a huge fan of this prof, not very open to suggestions whatsoever. All of her discussions seem to be printoffs from the internet. Try to get Dianne MacPhee if you can.
