Prof Visano was my favourite prof throughout my 3 degrees and many socio courses in the early to late 1990s. I studied sociology and then social work. He is an amazing professor with the best lectures and small group discussions. He is an inspirational activist committed to social action and social change. Thank you professor Visano!

He is honestly the best prof I ever had at york. He looks for the positives in students and is very easy to approach. He is also aware that each student has unique learning needs, and he caters to everyone. Come to class, do the assignments to the best of your ability, and you should be golden!

Comment:

"Justice for children" with him is amazing!! His lectures are very interesting and he really knows how to connect with students. This class was one of the only lectures that I was ever excited and eager to attend! (because of him). One midterm and one final exam, one group assignment and one term paper only. Highly recommend for first year!

Incredibly dedicated to student success, goes above and beyond to help his students achieve the best possible grade. Very helpful with critiquing essays and assignments if you go to him beforehand. Willing to discuss your ideas and provide feedback, all in all it made the research course an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

The most entertaining and informative lectures I have had in my time as a student. Not afraid to speak his mind and I truly respect that out of him. The questions and remedies he poses and asks you to think of at the end of each lecture really make you think critically and you are bound to leave his class not thinking of the world the same way.

You would expect that a course that is about the Charter, would largely deal with Charter & Human Rights. However, this course turned out to be completely the opposite. Readings were often irrevalent. Course format was unorganized. Prof tends to go off on a tangent and doesnt sticks to one topic. Unresponsive to emails. Overall, disappointing!!

Great prof! He encourages you to think critically to an entirely new level! Course was hard, but taught me a lot. He also gives entirely new viewpoints, which challenge the normative views. He's always there for you, whether you're struggling or just want to talk. I recommend him, but be prepared to think.

I was not a fan of Prof. Visano. Many students find him to be funny, and at times he can be, but most of his humour is found in his use of vulgarity. I understand that everyone swears, but as a professor, he over used his position to be swearing in the stories and examples he used in class which just got annoying at one point. Class is recommended.

Hes an amazing prof! Have an evening class with him and he keeps you awake and laughing! His stories are crazy and they always relate to lecture material! Never scared to push the line. Really makes lecture fun and entertaining.

Really enjoyed having this Prof, very helpful when you ask and very approachable. Attending class is recommended to get a decent mark, lectures are extremely interesting. Do the readings! Prof gives good feedback. Grading Scheme was clear. TA's for this course could have been better teaching wise. Although tests are tough, they're reasonable.

Great professor! Great lectures - very engaging. Course was fairly easy. Tests were straight forward. Sadly, I discovered him in 4th year. If I knew about him in 1st year, I would have taken more classes.
