Dr. Maier is incredible. Tons of real life experience as a singer and songwriter and she really cares about all her students. If you give 100% in class you will get an A. And she has an AMAZING voice - can sing opera and then rock out in the same breath. Crazy good!

Participation (10%), improvement(10%), midterm(20%),attendance(10%), first solo( 15%), final solo(15%),exercise test(10%), and group report(10%). Easy teacher overall and solid choice if you want to get your fine art done. However, it is not an easy A. You will have to work hard for an A-/A. Good that you won't get too pressured from this class.

This is not an easy A class. I worked hard for an A-. I got a 93, 1 percent away from A. 94-100 A 90-93 A- It is almost an easy B+ because even u messed up the midterm badly (first solo piece and written exam which you have to memorize music terms and music eras), you will still be given extra credit(0-5 percent) at the end of the semester.

You actually have to try in this class. You can't just sing and get an A. You have to show her that you're improving throughout the semester, and put forth a lot of effort and practice into your chosen songs. I'd say take this class if you like singing, or want to improve your vocal skills, and want to get your fine arts GE taken care of.

Lori's so awesome! She's helped me develop my vocal skills and also fine tune my hearing so that I am able to have a deeper appreciation for the finer music. If you get a chance to take this class, here is my advice for you: TAKE IT!!!!! You'll be improved in ways you didn't know could be improved.
