Doc turns a conversation about sandwiches into a history lesson. It's what he knows and loves. He wants to share all he can with whoever will listen. Freshman seminars are full of people who wanted to be in a different class. He can't force you to be interested in his subject, but he can try his best to teach all he can. "It's a bird. Nice, but wanted us all to understand all of the innerworking of music theory (it wasn't all music majors on this trip). Had absolutely no understanding for a day late paper (even when we were mailing out papers back). The course description tricked me. If all you want is art and music theory, this is your course. Otherwise, stay away!!!

to previous post - if you thought the spring concert was easy for a college level symphony, you have no idea what difficult music is. Doc's idea of tasteful music is play as quietly as possible. However, very nice and very dedicated.

Hepler is a nice guy, but hes not a good director. Terrible and really easy music selection. Partly to blame for the stagnant and boring music program at allegheny. Great guy, mediocre musician
