He is straight up a tool. He lies that he gave solutions to practice problems in class. Also doesn't care one bit for students. His exams are very unreasonable. Stays on the phone with someone while a student is in his office. His final exams are all "pass the final to pass the course". You see, this would work if he was actually a good teacher

Be warned, he does not mark normally. You simply cannot make any mistakes in the quiz questions early on. Numbers don't need to be right they just need to be 'reasonable'. There is no error carry. Oh, and don't expect him to change over the semester. The guys is dug into his ways like a tick! Honestly, just hope he dies before you take fluids 2.

I believe the only issue with Bauwens is he is too smart. Therefore teaching 3rd year classes is too easy for him and he glosses over things that we would find difficult.. other than that his classes were not that hard and he gave out marks easily if he saw you tried. He was rude to some students but I feel like they deserved it

Got an A in dynamics. Trick is to stay in his lecture for the first few weeks when he's awful to weed out those that don't stick with him and then he just switches to being awesome!

No. Okay maybe. After the first 10 mins of the first lecture I had realized what a long and perilous road lay ahead. Could not understand anything he said, didn't get through the course outline in the first hour long class. So our whole lecture section went to the other prof instead until we got kicked out. Go to A different lecture section.

This man takes a perverse pleasure in being unspecific about almost everything. It's almost like he is specifically putting in an conscious effort to stop students from passing. Because that's exactly what he is doing, he will go as far as to take away students calculators, mid exam, just for the pure pleasure of the pain in their eyes. Avoid him

Terrible prof. And he took a lot of people's Schulich approved calculators during the midterm, because they didn't have a sticker on it. seriously there are TWO kinds of approved calculators.. it's not that hard to realize. Very unforgiving and doesn't care about the students at all. worst accent to.

This guy is awesome, he's hilarious and an absolute genius. If you sit in the front you can hear him crystal clear and he's really interesting. I would take his course again!

By far the worst prof in engineering. He cannot teach any of the material clearly, and he's hard to understand on top of that. He doesn't explain anything well, and he should be avoided at all cost.

Comment:

Good lecturer for senior level courses if you have an interest in the material. Would not recommend for lower level courses. A genuine academic, quirky. Quite entertaining to attend lectures if you are not uptight.

Very good teacher and would rather you understand why a problem is happening and giving ways to solve it, rather than simply giving a ton of examples and you tying to memorize a procedure and hoping an exact question shows up on your exam. Had him twice now and taking his gas dynamics class!

Avoid if possible. If not possible, do not attending lectures, as he confuses students with his meandering lecture style. He does not teach new concepts clearly, and gives very few examples. He is never prepared for lecture. There is nothing to be gained by listening to him teach in class. He should not be teaching.
