Although I saw her for 1 hour a week, I found her very respectable and easy going. The course design is tidy and well thought out. This coursr is unclear who is grading what, but the criteria is maybe made by the Lab Administrator.

Midterms are optional - do them!! The class picks up pace, so grab all the marks you can early on! Her question style can be a bit confusing, so midterms are also good to get used to her style. Go see your test in her office and ask to have questions you got wrong clarified! She can be a little disorganized but overall is a decent prof.

Comment:

Really good professor, made me love micro even more. The problems in this course don't arise from her teaching, it's from how broad the course is. You jump around a lot; but if you do your textbook readings you'll be fine. GO TO CLASS! Everything that's important are NOT on her slides. Lab component is so much fun, but it can be tough.

I admire her enthusiasm towards Microbiology, however I had the worse experience taking this course. Her notes only somewhat lined up with the required textbook readings, yet what she said in class could not be found in either resource. She does not help prepare you for any tests making the class 10x more difficult as there is a ton of content.

Interesting course, but the quizzes and midterms both had randomly specific questions, and she doesn't give any prep, so it's impossible to know what's going to be on them. I had to basically memorize every single tidbit she mentionned. When explaining things in class she was a bit confusing, but overall seemed to be enthusiastic about Micro.

She also taught half of MICR 2420. I thought she was a great prof - very enthusiastic about microbiology, and extremely helpful and nice one-on-one. She made an effort to visit the lab most days to see the class's progress in these lab-heavy courses. They aren't easy courses, expect to work hard.

She is the reason why I'm doing a PhD in Immunology. You have to pay attention in this class and go to every class for the material to make sense, but she's very approachable and helpful.

Quizzes are horrible in terms of clarity. Don't miss lectures since she draws seemingly random things from them which then become testable. Textbook is a must. The overall problem with this class though is clarity.

I found her very unapproachable. Whoever marked my midterm forgot to mark and entire 10 mark question and she accused me of filling it in after it was handed back to me (even though i looked through it right in front of her). She wasn't even going to hand them back to us, good thing that changed!

I made the mistake of electively taking this class. Don't do the same! Fell asleep in almost every lecture. Tons of super-hard material to get through for both the mid-term and final. You basically need to memorize the textbook and lecture notes to do well.
