Makes the course much easier because he only concentrates on the concepts.He is one of the profs who wants you to understand,and this is what his exam tests.Teaches very clean and organized,but to get a good mark you have to go to every class and pay attention. Study qstns & discussion board very useful.Very helpful after class.Exam is fair.

He is an excellent prof. Anyone who says the opposite has no idea, seriously! He wants you to understand the concepts, not memorize tons of details in the textbook. I've always disliked bio, during his course, I started to like it and I understood the material very well. If you just follow what he says, it is very easy to get a very good mark!

The best class I've ever taken! The course contains very few details to learn but focuses on the most basic and important aspect of understanding. Oliviera can be funny and critical. Nonetheless, his criticism is justified because he speaks the truth about students' lack of understanding. Taking his course has helped me understand biology better.

omg one of the worst profs ever. so boring and very arrogant. claims that highschool teachers doenst know how to teach. he tells us not to read the textbook but just look at the pictures. strong accent. he gives out reading pages, but doesnt go through all of the stuff. REALLY bad teacher. try to avoid esp if its in the morning. really awful prof!!

When is this guy going to retire already!? I loved bio before this course... and now I hate it. I'm writing a letter to the Dean of Science about how incompetent this guy is. People think he cares a lot about his students? Ya right! I fall asleep every class and want to throw things at his head. So arrogant, unhelpful, unfair, stupid. i hate him.

When i have trouble sleeping i can just play a tape of his class it could knock an elephant out. Sorry his teaching style may work for some didn't work for me a lot of it can be attributed to my will power to stay awake. Secret to doing good in his class.. COFFEE, SPEED, A FRIEND SLAPPING YOU EVERYTIME YOU GO TO HIS CLASS OR ALL THE ABOVE.

Great Professor. He loves what he teaches, and works extremely hard at trying to make his students succeed. It takes a while to understand his approach, but once you get it, you're set. Don't worry about the MT, and focus on the final. Don't bother with the text book readings, just note what you need to get from the pictures. Trust me...

nice guy, funny accent, passionate about what he teaches...but the accent definatly affects the teaching. unless you sit front row, it can sometimes be difficult to understand him, but it's a sweet accent.from experience, his voice is soothing, and put me rigth to sleep...good rest in this class
