A wonderful lecturer but if you don't attend you won't pass. Super passionate and interesting, classes and tests are straight forward from the notes.

Love this class. Not a walk in the park but is presented in a way that is easy to understand. I learned a lot from this course and I also had fun while doing it.

Comment:

Easy online class for CJ majors. One quiz a week that comes directly from the book and an additional assignment (easy). Takes maybe an hour a week to complete what is needed for this course. It's a walk in the park.

Comment:

He was an alright teacher but the best to take for this class. It isn't a walk in the park. He had to boost the final exam grades cause they were so awful. All he does is lecture and don't expect to be on your phone or computer unless your taking notes cause he'll call you out. Just 3 test and a few homework assignments that don't count for much

Comment:

Professor Exum knows his stuff. He doesn't have a traditional textbook which is amazing. I've looked at the textbook the other teachers use for this course and it's downright boring. 2 tests, 1 final, 1 ride along are your grade. Read the novel, show up to class and take notes because he doesn't upload them online. No attendance but go to class!

Comment:

Exum is one of the best professors I have ever had. He didn't take attendance but he has no powerpoints online so you have to go to class. 2 tests & a final with a mandatory ride along and a novel to read. I went to every class, studied the morning before the tests and got a 99 in the class. Not boring & makes it so easy to understand the material.

Does not take attendance. You are required to do a ride along and he only gives you 10 points for completing it. All other grades come from Exams, and the final exam is 40% of your final grade. Makes you read a book, that was one of the hardest books to read and follow. He is a nice professor, but I did not like the structure of his class.

Comment:

Amazing professor, definitely knows his stuff! Awesome lectures, but pretty strict about phone/laptop use. Only three tests and a ride along (so fun!) and you'll pass the tests as long as you take awesome notes and read the book he assigns. Final was cumulative! Non-mandatory but you NEED the notes; he gives a great study guide for tests, though.

Comment:

One of the best teachers in the Criminal Justice Department. Always makes the lectures interesting. Class is only 3 tests & a police ride along which was fun. Tests aren't too bad, just take REALLY good notes and read the book he assigns.

I LOVEEE EXUM! He makes the class interesting and keeps your attention. TAKE GOOD NOTES. Read the book he assigns, it's actually really good and you need to know the material for the essays on the exams. He hates cell phones so don't have those out. Overall he's one of the best professors I've had.

Professor Exum is passionate about the research in the Criminal Justice field. I had previously taken Research Methods with another teacher and was lost for a good portion of the time. Dr. Exum is constantly focusing to make the material as clear as possible to his students. Take this class with him if your looking to learn about research in CJ.

Dr. Exum is an all-around great professor and great guy. He is the best teacher I've had at UNCC within either one of my majors. The YouTube video he plays before every class ties into his lecture material for that day and it is really neat how he relates the two each time. You will actually learn something in his class and I'm very glad I had him.

Dr Exum is a great professor. He is a sweet guy and always willing to help. His class is hard. Not an easy A. Lots of papers and 3 tests. He uses power points. Show up for class and take good notes. You will learn how to write excellent papers. I would definitely recommend! I learned so much from his class!!!

Dr. Exum is a great professor. Very interesting to listen to and is always there to help. RM is a tough course, but of all the professors,Exum is the one you want. Theres hw due each week and a paper due roughly every 2 weeks. They arent too bad. 2 test and a final. attendance isnt mandatory, but GO TO CLASS. You cant get behind in a RM course

Took a boring topic and made it very interesting and enjoyable. Plays YouTube videos before class to get you in the mood for his lecture. Uses a novel and not a textbook. Tests are MC with an essay at the end. Best prof for CJUS.

Comment:

He is a very good professor. He enjoys what he is teaching. One piece of advice, when he gives you the study guide for tests...go by it! Only thing I would change is maybe another grade for the class, since there is only three tests.
