Nothing good can be said about cavanagh's so-called teaching. she was absolutely horrible during my years. I have a feeling that many positive comments here are written by cavanagh herself and/or her friends & relatives. The remark that she is a "kind, caring genius" made me laugh. Nothing can be further from the truth.

Loved taking theory from Lynn. She's really passionate about it and very clear when instructing the class. I found her classes interesting, funny and easy to follow. Some students struggle more than others but this is more the subject matter rather than her instruction.

Had Lynn for 3/4 theories and she is astounding. Admittedly hard and distant at first, but she turns out to be an extremely kind, passionate, caring person with a little effort. Not to mention she's a theory genius and can explain the same concept in several different ways. I love theory thanks to Lynn - but she does have high expectations!

Cavanagh in a few words: kind, caring genius. Though she can sometimes have difficulty communicating something in varying ways, she is obviously concerned with her students understanding and is willing to discuss exams to help improve them for future semesters. It makes me very sad to not be able to continue taking classes with her!

She knows what she is talking about, but has no idea how to put it in student words, or dumb it down, it is straight from the textbook, and when you ask her to explain it another way, its nearly impossible. She is willing to help outside of class, but still that barely helps sometimes. If you have no prior theory experience, i dont recommend her.

I found Lynn to be a very capable teacher. If you keep up on the homework and make sure you understand what you are doing, you will have no problem answering the questions in class and getting a more than average grade. She will answer questions with a great answer if she likes you- she will like you if you do your work!

Fantastic class. Cavanagh is a very knowledgeable teacher who, while being a little too concerned about petty details, is nonetheless dedicated to making sure you know everything and why things are as they are. Plenty of handouts, assignments and tests are easy as long as you follow the instructions!

I think she's great. She had a bad reputation, but give her a chance and she really knows her stuff and she makes sense when she explains it. Any student can learn a lot from her. She's also very self contained in terms of emotion.

I thought she presented all the material clearly and well and the amount of work was decent. She's very helpful if you are having problems but she does take some getting used to. Give her a chance, do the work, and you'll do fine in the class.
