Comment:
A very easy mark. I accidentally did my homework and was good to skip 3 weeks of lectures, where the same material was mulled over. Martin doesn't take this class too seriously, hence the tone of the lectures. Make sure to befriend your TA - all real marking is done by them. Exam is open book, so print the notes and major readings the night before,

This is an easy course to get a moderate grade and there is not much work in this course. The final is open book and easy. Two short papers in this course. The only thing i don't like is that you may need to read the textbook for the tutorial's short writings.

Overall, great prof. He's really passionate about the subject and explains it pretty well. Only drawback is he talks too fast sometimes. Papers are very fair & rather short. Create good notes for the final as it is open book, and you should be good to go!

He can be a little difficult to understand at times, but he really does put in the effort to deliver an understandable lecture with many examples to explain the concepts! He is passionate about what he is teaching. He seems very friendly and likes to laugh. Overall a really cool professor.

I was very surprised to find out that Martin is the department chair. I have no doubt that he is a very smart man, but his teaching skills are pretty terrible. Its as if he is lecturing to himself. He most often reads from the book and then lectures at the speed of an auctioneer leaving me and those around me very lost. Non phil majors, avoid!

I've taken at least 3 courses with Martin Hahn, including 203 and 333. His classes are enjoyable because he always makes philosophically interesting and funny commentary when giving examples and such. I love his witty humor! He is a fair marker (not too hard at all), and a nice guy :)

Phil of language. Good course. The readings are interesting and clear and Hahn is ok as a lecturer. BUT, comments on papers are extremely rude if you get any at all, even if you get a decent grade! Ask anyone: doesn't read the finals at all, just randomly guesses at a mark. Then is "away" until next semester. You wont learn how to improve at all.

He was enthusiastic and well informed, and he looked at essay drafts. But his comments on the drafts were snipey and of no help at all. He also went too fast, and I lost information for his speed and somewhat sloppy English. Anyways, take him if you want.

Comment:
Very well informed. Knows hist and switches easily between historical thinkers ideas. Has good natured humour and smiles alot. Talks at the speed of thought, but gives multiple examples (sometimes). He does not seem very demanding, but will probably see through any lame attempts on papers. Follow closely or you will be left behind.

He is super fun and interesting yet I found myself lost half the time. The paper topics were given to late to really do a superb job and the topics had no flair.

Despite my rankings making him seem all right, by far the worst philosophy prof I have ever had. Zero feedback on papers. The paper topics have no critical component. They are book reports. Just a waste of time, and he often missed class without any notice. I won't take another class with him, which is annoying as he teaches many I want.
