Loved her! Although her lectures for this class can feel like you're taking a trip back to the 8th grade, she really cares about the success of the student. This class is a super easy A if you just turn in your work, nothing special. She has very clear rubrics, follow them and you'll do fine

Dr. Cavanaugh is a very caring and kind individual. The main book for the class is an easy read and discussions in class are based on the text of the book. The projects are time-consuming but can be finished a night before they are due. The books required in class can easily be found on spark notes and allow you to pass the course.

Truly don't understand why everyone loves her so much. Only useful if you planned on teaching Elementary 50 years ago. I've taken her for 3 classes and can't stand her. She recycles the same exact busy work projects for all of her classes and they're all pointless. For the young adult lit class (254) we read a book with a 3RD GRADE READING LEVEL.

She is a joke. She treats her students like they are literally in elementary school. So much unnecessary busy work it is ridiculous. The class itself is easy except for the fact that it's just a lot of work. She thinks she is groundbreaking but in reality, she is truly archaic. I was excited to learn how to teach but I left the class frustrated.

Where do I begin? Dr. Cavanaugh is probably the most rude professor I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. She was belittling to students in front of other students, made rude comments to students in front of other students, had clear favorites in the class, and if you weren't one, she was mean to you. Also, her grading scale is ridiculous.

She teaches you how to become a "literature teacher." She is the one you want to take. She is very understanding and very supportive. The most effective professor at SVSU in the English department. Also she grades everyone equally.

Wonderful teacher. Take if you can you will learn much from her. I had her Spring 07 and at first very intemidated with the amount of work assigned and syllabus. But really it was great. Multi-genre is the largest part you will do and it is a lot of fun. Take if you can, you will not get bored in this class. She should teach in the COE!

Great professor. Would definatley take again. English is my least favorite subject, but she made me love it. Very helpful. Creative assignments that are not very time consuming. Fun multigenre project. Lots of ideas for future classroom use. Would reccommend to everyone!

Amazing Teacher who cares about her students. Class is tons of fun because she is always mixing it up. You do so many different things. The multi genre project is hard but also fun and if you work hard the end product is well worth it. Easier grader. Highly recommend her!

I had her Spring '06. While her syllabus was intimidating, the class wasn't all that hard. Some of her projects were a little time consuming, but well worth the effort. This is a wonderful class, and she's great at teaching it.

I can't imagine taking anyone other than her for this class. Yes, there is a lot of work (projects, presentations, etc.) but no tests or exams. And, she's such an EASY grader. Gives more useful resources than any other teacher. Plus, she's a super nice lady. I never minded going to class, time went by fast. Take her, she's great!

Gives LOTS of examples. Frequent projects, but she grades leniently. Very approachable. Lots of material provided to take into your future classroom! I loved Dr. Cavanaugh. Can't say enough good things about her! DO NOT HESITATE to take her for ENG 380! You will learn so much!
