The class was organized and Mac was helpful in giving his own detailed comments about the marked assignments. The course load was moderate, but reading the weekly chapter(s) is a must. Mac also provided the outline for the mt and the final which was very helpful. Despite not catching up with the weekly readings, I was still able to get a good mark!

Great class. Be prepared to read and learn about our social problems. 1 midterm, 1 term paper, 2 essay questions and a final. Extremely organized course structure. He helps you prepare for midterm and final. Great discussions, and he gives good grades with your writings as long as you are trying and being a critical thinker. Great class.

Mac is the best instructor you could ask for for an online course. I took him for Soc1122 and Soc 1127. Discussion is only worth 6% of your mark. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the exam, he replies in depth to discussion messages and poses follow up qs and he even recommended some great sources for my paper!

Don't take this course unless you need too. Nelson does not help with assignments or clarifying points. His answers are vague and majority of the time doesn't even answer what you asked. Makes it seem as though he does not care about his students.

The ideal professor. Inspiring, helpful, and engaging, even though it's online! This was an enjoyable class which had a well organized format and relevant readings. Mac is the best prof I have had at Langara and I find that the online format really encourages motivated students. Great class, great prof! You will work hard and learn with this class!

Mac is fantastic! His feedback and questions encourage you to really analyze and explore topics. This online class was organized, interesting readings (a fair bit of reading, though relevant), and he clarifies things when you need it. Big focus on the readings, of course. Cares about his students. I'd definitely recommend and take him again!

Loved this course! Mac replied to every comment online with feedback and further questions for those who wanted to learn. He gives midterm and final exam paragraph questions early so you can prepare well for them. For an online course, he clearly puts effort and interest into each student. Great course w/relevant readings in short stories.

This was my first class, and I loved it so much! The textbook is well written and I wanted to talk about sociology to everyone, I found it so interesting. About three hours a week spent reading the weekly chapter and answering the weekly discussion question is all you need to succeed in this class. The topics are fun, very relatabe to real life.

Took his 1127 and 1126 concurrently. Massive workload, tons of reading but was interesting. Responded to discussions with thought-provoking questions. Gave out exam questions a week before which helped. Hard courses if you haven't done soci before as textbooks don't explain background. interesting subjects though, and nice guy.

Took his online course cuz I thought it would be interesting. I totally regret it now. There's a lof of discussions and TONS OF READING! The format of the online classroom is really disorganized and it's hard to find stuff. Don't take this class unless you need it.

This was an online course. I often had to email back and forth many times to get answers out of him regarding assignments: he is definitely a vague guy. All the quizzes have questions from a previous edition of the textbook and I keep getting incorrect marks. Readings started out manageable and became ridiculous. I regret taking this course.

Comment:
To teach an online course you need to be able to convey instructions and points very clearly. Sometimes I can't tell what he really wants or what he means. He's also kind of clueless in that a lot of questions on the quizzes are errors and you can't actually find answers for them in the textbook, I had to point them out to him before he fixed it.
