I really enjoyed Malek's class but suspect most of my classmates did not. Don't show up: w/out basic university-level essay-writing skills; not prepared to contribute in class or do extra reading on your own. Otherwise there's no reason not to do fine. Great films (Arabic), very knowledgeable, personable guy. Doesn't answer emails (??).

WOW! I've never taken a course as poorly excecuted as the one that I took with Malek. I found him unresponsive. Our midterm was similar in structure to the pretend tests that I used to make for my friends in GR. 6. Avoid his classes.
