He was a cool teacher. We never really had too much homework but we were required to read a lot and there were a lot of lectures. The reading was honestly not too hard, and the quizzes were easy. He is a really inspirational guy and a great teacher who wants his students to learn.

Exellent professor with doctorate! Cares deeply about subject matter and conveys his passion for history in class! Very fair to all students is always approachable and willing to help! Not a boring lecturer encourages class to be vocal and actively participate in every class discussion. Offers extra credit to those who need it! Excellent teacher!

Very good teacher who is interested in what he's teaching. The class is not an easy A, you have to work for your grade. Class was sometimes boring but Manny made it fun with humor and good stories. Class participation is a must and there are alot of quizzes that are easy points to get if you do the readings. Most of the readings were interesting so they were easy to read.

The dudes straight up boring. I took a summer class for this guy and all we did was listen to him lecture in a very monotone voice and watch videos. One thing ive noticed is he was so boring that most of the class was on their laptop playing League of Legends, games, facebook, other important homework, etc. i suggest not taking his class

Contrary to some of the previous comments, I personally think Manny is an excellent professor. He states the facts and details in history, which is why ignorant people see it as biased. He has a vast knowledge of world history. I dare a critic to debate him.

I would not recommend this teacher. He taught more about himself & his views than history. A lot of what he taught was completely off topic. He takes off points for missing class for any reason. He uses crude language quite often. In-class essays, a book report, and written midterms & finals are assigned. My advice: chose a different teacher!

This class is hard to stomach.I like Manny,but I don't agree with his opinions,and this class was largely the expression of his opinions.Manny is a good guy.He's nice,approachable,and truly prepares students for the UC system.Not too hard,not too easy,but Damn!if I have to listen to your opinions so much give me the floor to debate once in a while.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER. I took his summer class, gives way too much work preached political opinions 95% of time and history the other 5% puts you down if you do not do everything his way or have same opinions lectures are incredibly painful and waste of time. I came out with a B after extra credit. Bottom line, avoid him, save your money and time.

WORST PROFESSOR ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET! I am pretty sure I pay teachers to teach me new things with new ideas, not to be dogmatic. I didn't know that someone so educated could be so ignorant. Funny, casual explanatory style, very informative, pulls the history into how it affect current affairs. The humor can grate on you if you're overly sensitive, he expects students to participate in class discussion, read your text and put a little thought into writing your papers. Willing to give a lot of help during office hours.

Self-hating-Mexican. He genuinely regrets the fact that he has anything to do with the Mexican culture. He thinks so highly of himself and constantly belittles students because "this is not UCB." I am really disappointed that he teaches this class and that young minds are being exposed to this very educated but ignorant fool. PLZ AVOID HIM!

Good teacher. Gives you an entertaining overview of the subject and his lectures are pretty interesting. The people who say he's bland aren't getting his dry sense of humor. Jokes on them. Opinionated, but a white suburban campus like this needs a good marxist kick in the pants.
