He is a great lecturer. He explains everything in detail to make sure all students understand it and constantly asks if anyone has questions. His exams were hard though, was always stuck between 2 choices and only got 68s on the exams while I studied my ass off each time. His GA was very approachable tho when I went to go look over my exams

So far, one of the best professors I never had. I think he's gifted at what he does! Thank you sir :-) To my fellow schoolmates: don't skip classes, do your reading, and you'll probably get a C+ or above. Also, ask questions because he grades for participation.

Engaging lecturer. Makes philosophy very easy to understand and interesting to learn. He is very knowledgeable. He reassures students that all it takes is hard work to do well in his class. Super fair with exams (all MC, mostly testing on the course readings) and approachable for questions - no matter what they are. Get to know him!

Dr. Guarini can take any concept, in any department, and make it easy to understand. He explains things in such a way that he can bring about that "click" moment where you finally "get it". How he does this is something you have to see to believe, but he is absolutely amazing at explaining concepts. TAKE ALL OF HIS CLASSES.

Guarini was the highlight of my semester. I took his class on law, punishment, and morality, and it was the most interesting philosophy class i've taken thusfar. While the information can be daunting, Guarini handles everything with ease and familiarity, creating a very welcoming and educational environment. If you have the chance, take his classes

he expected us to know everything already, when this was a first year class. I found it quite hard as i missed one day and i felt like i was so behind and it was hard to keep up with if you do not already know a lot about philosophers

By far one of THE best teachers I've ever had. His lectures were amazing & completely engaging. Don't miss any classes - you NEED to attend, but you'll want to attend. He is a very tough grader - no doubt. But he's always available, always responds to emails, and is very supportive. You won't be disappointed. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND this teacher!!

Had him for intro philosophy. He's a bit of a tough marker but very reasonable, you'll do well if you attend lectures, do the readings, and know your stuff. Overall he's a great lecturer, he gets really into what he's teaching, and he really makes it easy to understand philosophy. I definitely recommend him as a prof.

His lectures are extremely engaging, very honest and straight forward. On the first day of class he will tell you attendance is a must and he means it. That being said, if you attend regularly and listen to his lectures you will do well in the class and better yet, take a way a whole new way of thinking. I'm a philosophy major because of this prof.

Guarini is by far my favourite prof at the university. He knows a lot about a lot. I found that going to class was enough because his explanations were so thorough- I hardly opened my book. He doesn't dumb things down, so don't expect an easy course. He wants to set you up for success, now and in the future. Don't miss out.

Intro To Western Philosophy. Wow...Incredible Prof, easily one of the best at the university...this coming from a 3rd year Engineering Student taking this course as my non-technical elective. Such a breath of fresh air compared to engineering. He made everything very interesting, and actually kept my attention through class. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

im a computer science major and i needed some social science credits - this is the one to take! i've always failed every exam i've written, until now. He's just looking for 4 key things in each essay. If you get 2/4 right, thats a C-level essay! so in reality, get half the stuff memorized, and ur good for a passing credit!

Gives great lecutres. He is very helpful in answering questions and holds many office hours. He is looking for certain things in essays (which is every grade)in great detail. If you don't give him it in detail and 100% correct, he drops you a level . So, if he's looking for 5 things and you mess up a detail on one of them, the most you get is a B.
