Comment:
Your classmates do the teaching, Buckner just interrupts them to "add tidbits" or talk about her anthro work. There's readings that we have to do a 1/2 pg summary on @ 5pt each class. Tests are verbatim what she said in class or you lose points. Big project is your choice, a 12 pg paper or present your findings at the student anthro conference.

This professor has a huge passion for anthropology and is a large part of why I declared. She expects a lot out of her students, but the information she provides is very interesting and relevant to the class. Tests are essay based and shes usually requires daily summaries of readings and a couple projects. My favorite teacher at MSU

She's firm but fair. She is a repository of good information. A bit intimidating and snarky at times, but don't let that get you down she is actually really cool.

Dr. Buckner really sparked my interest in Anthropology. I didn't change my major to it but I did end up changing my major to something along those lines because of this class. The class is interesting and you will have papers to write but they aren't hard if you pay attention. Tests are somewhat difficult and you will have to study to get an A.

Dr. Buckner is really passionate about what she teaches. Sometimes she does get a little off topic, but it's always interesting to hear her experiences. She is very knowledgeable and very helpful. I would recommend her ANT100 course to anyone!

Tests are all essay, but not terribly difficult. We watched a lot of movies, which was nice. It's an alright class, but just not my cup of tea. Dr. Buckner herself is a really nice lady though. Likes to talk a lot about the Peace Corp. I can't really say anything bad about this class, it's interesting enough.

Though she is obviously in love with her profession (she has amazing stories for pretty much every topic discussed), I hated this class most of the time. If you don't have her opinion, you're wrong, even if you provide facts. She will also sometimes make far fetched claims about things that she doesn't back up with facts or leave for discussion.

Fairly disorganized, very passionate about her subject. I am a ling. anthro. major and she was very helpful in office hours, though she is a very busy woman. Classes are fairly off kilter and tests are not mult. choice at all. READ THE ARTICLES that she posts! You will fail every quiz if you don't! Class was incredibly interesting.

Dr. Buckner is a fabulous professor who is truly passionate about what she does. When talking about certain cultures she tells stories about her trips abroad and work with the Peace Corps and it is really inspiring. You will learn a lot and love how smart and down to earth she is!

A very interesting course, but the Buckner kept getting off topic and assignments weren't always clear, especially on due dates. I attended all but two class periods due to illness but still barely passed! Everything is based off of the reading assignments, lectures were very supplementary material. she didn't always teach you what was on tests.

Buckner is very passionate about what she does, she is very scattered brained but intelligent. ANT 380 is a student led class and it was relatively easy. One major draw back was we never knew what assignments were due. Buckner makes you see things through other cultures eyes.

I took her honors class and loved it. Her lectures are very entertaining. She wants her students to do well. If you take notes and do the readings, you'll do fine. Tests are short-answer, but actually are not bad.

I took the honors class and found it to be very good. A lot of readings to do and the tests were not the easiest. You had to be sure you knew what you were talking about.

Dr. Buckner totally opened my mind this past semester! I recomend everyone to take it. She makes class super interesting. Make sure to follow the assigned reading so you know what is going on in class discussions and as long as you go to class and take notes you will be just fine!

Dr. Buckner is great. She really cares about her students and wants all of them to do well. She is very reasonable and willing to negotiate grades. She has a lot of field experience, and shares a lot of it with her classes - which makes class really interesting. Tests aren't too bad as long as you do all the work and listen in lectures.

Class was very intersting. Dr. Buckner was always excited about what she was teaching and was willing to explain things if you didn't understand. Tests were short answer with a choice of one of two essay questions. She had review sessions before tests which made them easier since she would often alude to actual questions on the test.

Amazing teacher! I took her honors section, and it was one of my most interesting classes. You only have to do 4 out of the 7 or so assignments, which takes a lot of stress off. The tests are short answer, but really pretty easy if you pay attention in class and take notes. The only thing is there is a lot of required articles you have to read.

This class started out interesting and pretty hard. It became less exciting as the semester went on though. You have to get used to the short answer and essay tests. She grades papers pretty hard. As long as you read everything you're supposed to, write down everything she says, and study the night before the test, you'll do fine in this class.
