Comment:
The class provided little in the theory/perspective which made me love anthropology. I learned a lot about South America but too much was vague. I think doing a short historical overview country by country would've imparted a lot more than going by area topic. A few test questions could be tricky or focus on tiny details that were not of focus.

The course itself (feminist anthro) is interesting, and Margo also got the class to have lengthy discussions amongst each other, which I really enjoyed, and was fun to hear everyone's opinions, engage in debates, etc. But, Margo takes forever to grade papers, and is horrible at explaining concepts. I learned more from my classmates.

I learned a lot about culture in foreign countries that I was not aware of. A very artistic and motherly type of woman with much compassion.

At first was very interested in the topic at hand, Feminist Anthropology. But my interests quickly dropped due to the lack of direction and off topic rants. Horrible at returning assignments on time! I do not recommend this prof. Gave her two chances and that was more than enough. Not worth the money.

She is an amazing and understanding teacher, and very, very helpful. Feminist anth consisted of reading articles, discussing the articles, and writing papers. NO EXAMS! I love the self-directed and peer-oriented learning. And Margo is just a great person, I loved this class, I will miss it a lot.

Lectures are difficult to follow, course content generic social science material. Tutorials, however, were great.

I took her Feminist thry+method in the fall of 2011. The class was small (about 15 people) and got off to a bit of a slow start as each class was facilitated by group discussions and people were wary to read their discussion questions. Overall though interesting material and interesting perspective on ethnographic research. Really enjoyed the class

Margo is an horrifying prof. I've never been so incredibly bored in an anthropology class before. Literally reads off the slides, no new information is given, speaks ONLY about Brazil- in fact my class mate and I have taken to rolling our eyes every time she mentions Brazil, which means our eyes are CONSTANTLY ROLLING. AVOID THIS PROF.

If you're going to get your students to buy a textbook about Brazil, assign more than 50% of the readings on Brazil, and spend 70% of the lectures time talking about Brazil and remembing all the good times you had in Brazil, DON'T title your course "Latin America." She is like a one-hit-wonder band from the 90's with nothing new to say.

Although she's occasionally witty, her lectures consist mostly of her reading off lists and statistics from her lecture slides. The work load is pretty light even though her project instructions are kind of convoluted.

One of THE most difficult classes I have taken in my career as a student. While the information is very interesting, she has a certain things she wants to hear, and to do otherwise results in a loss of marks. Bonuses if you are a Feminist. Her classes can go from funny to dull in no time flat, and the otherway around depends on her mood.

I blame Margo, but I also blame the class. The theories she teaches are dated. If she's to teach them, it should be with a critical eye... she just explains them with these lengthy lists of examples. And, yes, her voice is really annoying.

Probably one of the worst profs i've ever had! Doesn't not stick to the textbook she assigned, the class was a complete waste of my time. Takes for ever to mark assignments, and has obscure exam questions. To top it all off, she chews gum and says um throughout the whole lecture...classy! One might question how the H she got a tenure position!?

Her classes are always interesting and she obviously cares about the topics a lot. Go to class and participate, this is what she is looking for, but for a 4th year class, that shouldn't be too hard, should it?

This class was one of the most disorganized classes I have ever been in. She tells you one thing and does another or marks in another way. I don't recomend this class to anyone.

Without a doubt one of the worst teachers I have ever had, in one of the worst classes I have ever taken. She has an extreamly annoying voice, and can't control the volume of it. She says um at the beginning of almost EVERY sentance. The worst 2 hours you will ever have to sit through!

WORST class I have ever taken. The discussion class is misnamed, the tests are impossible to study completely for and the paper outlines are apparently written with the expressed purpose of tricking students. Needs to learn to control the volume of her voice- BADLY.

She is interesting teacher, but does need to work on controlling the VOLUME OF HER VOICE. Take notes like crazy on her lectures, lots of her tests are on her own material. She is really nice if you talk to her outside of class I find.
