Mark is good prof. He knows his subject mater. At times I thought at times his marking was a little too harsh however in the class I took there were plenty of give away marks. He really is a nice and funny guy that has had an impressive career. I think most people would enjoy his lectures

Bulgutch is informative and experienced. He has his own perspective, but he encourages you to form your own opinions. I left every lecture with a greater understanding of news and journalism.

Mark Bulgutch is one of the best profs I've ever had. I love him as much as he loves drinking diet coke and coke zero. He's passionate about what he teaches, he knows what he's talking about and he's talented at making his lectures interesting and different from the last. I have cried and laughed in his class and would take it again if I could.

The absolute worst. No syllabus, surprise tests, assignment material has nothing to do with what's taught in class, makes fun of people's answers in class, very critical, mean and negative, there is not a single good thing to say about this man or his class, except that there was no exam.

He's knowledgeable and has a sense of humour, but he's a tough marker, and very heavily picks favourites. You've gotta hit the ground running on the 1st class and get into his good graces quick, or he'll dispense of you and make you not care and end up regretting taking the class :(

Greatest prof and class I've taken in my life. Really motivated me and fueled my passion for the industry. Some students may find his critiquing technique hurtful, but most use it as motivation to improve their work and become better. Would take a class with him every semester if I could.

Mark brings a wealth of experience to the class. After every show, he would go over each segment and state the good and the bad. He makes himself available on-call or by e-mail to assist students if they encounter problems when out shooting a story. He is viewed as the "tough" TV instructor, but you learn lots and improve if you listen.

Mark is the best teacher I've ever had in j-school (I'm in 4th year now). He's tough, honest and makes you a better journalist. He expects professional level work, which most other profs seem to forget about. I cannot express how much I admire and respect this guy. I would honestly recommend not leaving Ryerson without having him first.

Excellent. Just excellent. The bad comments below are from people who hate hard work and who will end up working at Burger King. Tough. But you will improve.

One of the best teachers there is, period. The people who don't like him just can't separate themselves from the work. He doesn't criticize you personally, but he will tell you how your piece could improve. He's always right on the money -- he knows TV journalism like no one else in the business. Learn everything you can from him.

This is not a class for those who want to be spoon fed. Mark is tough but you can tell he really does care. He is a pro - he has like 15 Gemini awards so he must be doing something right and I am sure he does not need the measly paycheck from Ryerson. If you want to learn you will love him. If you are looking for a bird course you won't. Great prof

He's tough, but is truly the best journalism teacher ever - if not the best teacher period! You need tough skin in this business anyways, so people shouldn't take his criticism to heart! He's well informed, DOES care about his students & what they get out of his class, has an awesome sense of humour, & TEACHES what he has pretty much perfected.

He's misunderstood. Mark is a friendly guy with a wry sense of humour. And he knows his stuff. I improved 500% in his class. I like that he's such a high-profile instructor, and that he demands nothing but perfection from his students. I'm so grateful that I was placed in his section. Great guy!

Some people are great at what they do. He's probably the best in the business, who knows? But some people DO suck at teaching - HE DOES! Never mind that he knows his crap - does he have the skills needed to relate it to us? NO! YOU'RE FIRED!

Mark was a great teacher. Yes, he is a CBCer, and admits that the CBC is all he knows. He's tough, but nice. Figure out his sarcastic sense of humour and you're half way there to enjoying the class.

Not only the best instructor I had at Ryerson:one of the best teachers of my entire (and vast) education. So intelligent, credible, and helpful. Unwilling to accept less than his students can give. If you want a den mother, you belong somewhere else. A+

Funny that the person before me tells Mark to not be mean and then makes a nasty comment about him. If you think Mark is tough then stay out of TV news! Oh, and if the pickle comment was your best shot then you should also stay out of writing.
