Lectures were very unclear, all the teaching consisted of was talking. Very minimal visuals or information given to us. Basically taught myself and still had an unsure idea going into the final.

Comment:
Although graded by only 3 things, he only includes information that is assessable from his lectures. So while it's helpful to read the books, it's not needed. However, his voice is very monotone, and while the lecture are all you need, they do get very boring.

Terrible prof. Extremely boring and drags on. Relies on the TA for information from the course way too much and doesn't allow laptops in class. 10/10 would not recommend.

The worst professor. So boring and monotone. It's absolutely ridiculous to expect anyone to sit and listen to him ramble for that long.

I'm a philosophy major and found the class to be very bias towards his own opinions. However, if you take good notes and actually pay attention in class (can be difficult because he's kinda dull) then you will get a decent mark. Incorporate your own knowledge from other classes to get an A. You MUST attend class but I don't recommend for non-majors

Dr. Letteri is excellent. Detailed lectures and excltremely accessible via email. 98% of these reviews are clearly written by non-majors who got burned looking for 1st-yr bird courses. If you attend class and take notes you'll actually learn something and will know exactly what to expect on his exams. If not, you'll whine and shift blame online.

Please don't listen to these scrubs. Literally no one in my class did the reading or homework. A question worth a quarter of the midterm was GIVEN TO US WITH THE ANSWER in the workbook. This is the state of education now. People complaining because they can't Facebook-surf their way to a good grade. Pathetic. Letteri is awesome. Sort yourself out.

This prof does not follow the course description whatsoever. He teaches his opinions and expects everyone to agree. He says offensive things, is ignorant and close minded. He only shows two slides per lecture and doesn't post any slides online. He never stays on topic and is unclear on his expectations. The exam questions are confusing. Worst prof.

"I expect mastery of all given reading" 9 chapter midterm, covered 4 in class . He is drier than a bounce sheet in class and makes you wonder why your tuition helps fund his world of war craft tournaments. 4th year student and he is the first prof to make me shudder at the thought of going to his class

He's a nice guy and approachable outside of class, but in lecture was as dry as the desert. I was never really clear on what concepts we were learning as he would digress from his topics often. I did decent on the midterm, but almost all of the class failed the paper. Would not recommend if taking your first philosophy course.

Tests are obscure and way too specific to write complete responses. Decided to teach psychology in a philosophy course... I do not recommend.

Should. Not. Be. Teaching. I can not put it any other way. Worst prof at Uwindsor. He is immature, rude, and an extremely tough marker. Boring papers, hard exams, no lecture slides. Do NOT take his class. He does not care about students, about our effort, nothing. He replies to emails alright... in the most rude manner possible. Avoid at all costs.

If you are in first year University and have never taken a philosophy class, do not take a first year class with Letteri. He assigns material that I have covered in 4th year philosophy classes. He has been reported many times for this issue. His grading is all over the place. I got an A on the midterm and a D on an essay?

I was double majoring in Crim and Philosophy before I took Intro to Western Philosophy with Letteri. I learned more about Donald Trump and the US election rather than anything related to Philosophy. He gets way too off topic for far to long, and marks extremely hard when marking papers. Dont take this class. Other Profs will tell you the same thing

The lectures were long, and dry. He is a very smart person, I found him funny not mean. He has great opinions on philosophy. You HAVE to do all of the readings to pass this class, and you have to enjoy essays. Good guy, but the course was a drag.

Comment:
He is just terrible. He will go over the same things in a 3 hour lecture several times but just word it differently. He is very heavy on the reading and if you don't do it or have time to you will not do well. His midterms are essay style questions and are extremely vague.
