Mark taught me animation history back in 93 94. I appreciated his anecdotal stories of working at Hanna Barbera and living in L.A. He is an easy teacher if you attend class.

Comment:

Teaching artists at the graduate level who likely have no experience in his particular area is hard (artists + criticism = bad). He is of the 'old school' where realistic animation is a no-no. His grading system is vague and inconsistant, but then, so is the work he's grading. I can remember what he taught so he did his job, my ego disagrees :)

(I can't recall the comp. anim. class section - sorry.) When I had Mark as a teacher he was HORRIBLE. Condescending and unaware - could care less and very mean to women - made fun of students. ANY positive comments on here were NOT done by students - none of us learnt anything. Some students handed in same animation - different grades were given

When I had him as a teacher he oozed arrogance and treated his student with no compassion. Do to exhaustion from frequet all nighters my friend fell asleep and fell on the floor in his office. Mark stayed on the phone and closed the door. Watch "Office Space" and "Bill Lumburgh" is a great representation of this teacher.

Very clever man, and extremely talented. It was an honour to have him as my prof. He is so helpful and there for you when you need him. His marking is beneficial, w/tons of comments and constructive criticism. Take this class for sure! Can't wait to have him again
