A warm, caring woman; a superb, award winning scholar; a supportive, innovative teacher: Marlene Kadar is remarkable in so many ways and York is extremely fortunate to have her on staff. Her scope is enormous, her passion deep. If you ever get the chance, take her class. Professors like Marlene are rare indeed. Her impact on her students runs deep.

Comment:
She's sooo nice sometimes, it comes off as terribly FAKE. She's a difficult marker, and sometimes, explicitly thinks far too highly of herself as a professor (which is probably why she marks as such). Class discussions are sometimes fun, but mostly uncomfortable due to their far too frank nature.

Marlene's Life Writing Course has been one of my most rewarding university experiences. She has created a warm and personal learning environment, which is rare here at York. She is teaching more than a course.....she is teaching students to live peacefully and work to create a better world.

MARLENE IS THE BEST PROF I EVER EVER HAD, and this course was the best I ever took in Univ. She is a complete sweetheart of a person and loves teaching, loves when students learn, loves helping out. Challenges you. I learned so much from her. So you study Hungary and the holocaust a lot. SO WHAT.

something is amiss with her.as the others here say she acts like she is sooooo (syrupy sweet) nice and expects this can make up for the lack of commitment and aid given to her students. maybe tenure should only last for four years and then be reviewed.

Comment:
this course was great with the exception of too much emphasis being placed on the Holocaust. Kadar is really approachable though and lets you explore things you might not have a chance to elsewhere.
