"I would fail all of you idiots if I could." This professor is GARBAGE as both a professor and a person. I have ADA accommodations and he laughed in my face when I told him. He also whined to the Econ department until they let him lower the curve. Sad, Sad man who is just mad at the world. Georgetown will be a better place when they fire him.

Took his course 5 years ago. Did not appreciate how useful it was at the time, but do now in grad school. Tough but fair grader

Even if the choice comes down to taking Evans or not graduating, STILL don't take Evans. Horrible professor. Blames students when grades are low on his ridiculously tough midterms and final. Genuinely doesn't care about his students.

I think the other reviews were a bit too harsh, but I still wouldn't take him again. He is an unclear lecturer, couldn't care less about students, and is generally a jerk. That said, he is very smart and will challenge you to really understand the concepts. It's not the end of the world if you have him, but take someone else if you can.

I love Martin Evans. He always shows up on time and ready to go. His lectures are wildly entertaining, intellectually engaging and delivered in a sexy British accent. He loves his family very much as they are always calling him during class. I got a C+, which was disappointing, but the class was a great experience overall. Highly recommend.

Horrible. Only reads off of slides, yet incredibly unclear. Will schedule exam the day before Thanksgiving and you and your classmates will be the only ones on campus. Asks questions on material barely covered and does not answer questions. Entered grades over a week past when they were due for professors. May be the worst professor I've had.

Professor Evans is a sad excuse for a human being. He is the least helpful person on the planet and enjoys watching his students drown. Honestly, I have never disliked a person more in my entire life. The final was worth 55% of the grade and he made it impossible. If you choose to take him for whatever reason, RIP.

Evans is a great lecturer and an intelligent guy. If this was simply a lecture series, I would recommend this class. However, the tests (15% each) and the final (55%) hardly reflect lecture material. This class was extremely unfair because the tests and quizzes are made up of silly quizlet questions in a macro test database.

Yea, he's not good. He doesn't care at all. Here's the thing though, class is optional! 3 lectures into the class I realized I wouldn't learn from him so I never showed up again. Teach yourself with the textbook and you'll do fine.

Marty likes to hear his own voice echo in the auditorium, not a huge voice of using it outside of class, very difficult to track down outside of lectures. Tests were horribly worded, extremely difficult, and rarely relied on information covered in class. Found his exact lectures on youtube with a more entertaining teacher. Avoid at all costs!

Lectures dont prepare you for the exams, no clear way to succeed in the course even if you attend all lectures/recitations, his office hours are not helpful bc he will tell you to keep trying harder when thats impossible, unpredictable grading

I give this class a one, not because of its difficulty, but because of Marty's undeniable sex appeal. Men and woman alike, prepare to have your sexuality questioned as you kick back in the icc auditorium and hear Marty's luscious whispers about collateralized debt obligations crashing the housing market. Nah jk this class was brutal for an intro.

No matter how much you think you understand pretty basic material, expect to do poorly. He loves to skip over portions of lecture and then write an entire exam on what he skipped over. The material makes sense before he attempts to explain it and the exams are designed to trick you, not test your knowledge.

Prof. Evans is not a bad lecturer, but he expects students to automatically understand the material he teaches, gives tests/homework that don't reflect the lectures and is frustrated when students don't do well on his exams (and doesn't make the curve system clear). Also, he gave an exam the day before Thanksgiving -- just FYI.
