Martin is a lovable old man with a passion for teaching political science that really shows throgh his lectures. I've taken two half-courses with him, and although sometimes slow moving, he is very clear and very kind. Two exams for the entire course that are very straightforward if you attend class. Would recommend for students not in poli sci.

The Prof is great! Although his lectures may be a little unorganized he does a good job of explaining everything and is very understanding. I did really well but I worked pretty hard. Do all the readings and remember facts for the exams. ONLY 2 exams all year.

Straight forward material. Requires students to take class notes and does not post lectures online. Lectures simply summarize the text. Straight forward exam and interesting material. The major drawback was dozen or so mandatory readings on reserve. Highly recommend.

A great professor and a great course. Westmacott is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He is straightforward with his expectations and wants you to excel. Show up at class, take good notes, and there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get an A on the exams. A terrific elective for students of all backgrounds.

Professor Westmacott is a gem. He loves what he teaches and it shows. He truly ignited a passion for Canadian politics in me through his teachings. He is very informative but at times dry. The course itself is quite straightforward and not too challenging. Great professor!

One of the nicest profs you will ever encounter. Shows genuine concern for sutdents, and clearly loves teaching. Well-organized if somewhat dry. Encourages partcipation. A fair marker; will give a ton of hints so there are no suprises on the exam. Has been around forever and knows the material inside and out. Highly recommended.

One of the nicest professors and people I've met at school. Extremely (almost unusually) knowledgeable about politics and is never afraid to fill you in. Helpful inside of class and out. Requires silence in lectures so if you can't help but talk don't go to class, it's that simple. Great guy.

Marty is a wonderfully sweet guy. Very humble and approachable. Some people say his lectures are boring but I found them very interesting at times and they are infintitely better than Doug Long's. He is respectful of everyone's opinions and keeps his views to himself ... again, unlike Long who is arrogant and abrasive. EXCELLENT PROF.

He's a good person, very helpful. However, the lectures... made me want to rip out my hair. It was, by far, my most boring class in first year. Structure of politics isn't particularly interestng, but to have Westmacot teach it... bruuuutal. But he's available for help, approachable, and nice. Overall, he's... "ok". The lectures... just...ehhhhhh

A great teacher, and overall a great person. He is the only Prof I have gotten to know and he cares a lot about his students. He met with me repeatedly before the Winter Exam just to help me out and ensure I do very well. The one bad thing is that the exam was very hard, but as long as you study and are aware of wierd details, you'll do great!

He's completely useless at teaching. He already has dry material to work with and he makes it impossible to listen to. He just drones on and on and on. Zero enthusiasm, zero interest. I wish so badly I had dropped this class.

Lots of repition so theres not reason why a person cannot pass..go to lectures, study those notes and youll pass with flying colors. yes can be boring but hey, its politics.. you either hate it or love it!
