Professor Fay is a great teacher. She is very intelligent and is willing to help any student at any time. Her lectures are not that structured and she can go off on tangents, but that is what makes the class interesting. I recommend taking her.

Very good professor. Her lectures can go into tangents a bit, but its all relevant material (just presented in an unorganized fashion). Her knowledge about the Middle East is extensive, and she shows a lot of films, encourages student interest in the area, and her assignments are not too demanding. Quizzes are easy, easy A overall

Professor Fay is extremely knowledgeable and always ready to help a student, she cares very much about the well being of her students. Lectures are slighly unorganized, but her insights into the Middle East are unique and not to be missed. Best to have some background in the Middle East before taking a class from her.

She rambles, and her syllabus sucks. Regardless, she really knows her subject...if you are at all interested in the Middle East, she is definately worth checking out. Just realize that class can sometimes be boring.

Tangents, tangents, tangents. But that's the fun part. Prof. Fay has extensive knowledge of her subject and encourages you to be a participant in discourse and criticism of policy, media, and history. Lots of reading, lots of writing. Good overall.

This is my 3rd Class with Dr. Fay. She is extremely intelligent and incites a lot of discussion in her class. To get an A, show up, be interested, as questions do the work. She may seem biased, but I think it's just her experience and beliefs showing through. And no she wont knock off points for disagreeing, you just have to back it up.

Not helpful at all, nice person outside of class, but she fails to bend of help. Yells and is very sore at the littlest requests or questions. If you know anything about the Middle East, you may be bored, it's not exciting. Content is good, although you skip around a lot and don't cover things with much depth. Will blame you for her mistakes.

What to do well on papers in her class? Agree with EVERY point the author makes, whether or not you actually do. She takes off MAJOR points for dissagreement. While her lectures may be dull as bricks, she is in fact very knowledgable about her subject, and can answer most of your Middle East questions.

good classes, especially if you want to get a wide understanding of the Arab World. Papers focused solely on feminist issues, which is a contortion of the subject matter. Pro-Arab teacher but will hear out other viewpoints. Class is worth it for the readings alone.

the class was excellent - she is very knowledgable about her field and the topics discussed. miniquizzes keep you up-to-date with the readings. three papers, a midterm, a final, and a map quiz are the basic grades in the class. i recommend taking it.

very easy class. just a brief overiew of mid east-history to current. she does share alot of her view points and she really only talks about the readings-which there are alot of but you don't have to read cuz she talks about them. tests/quizzes pretty easy. attendence sign-in sheet every class

She's a liberal, hands down. That aside, shes very very easy. I missed 13 classes and got a b+. Too much on israel/palestine, and not enough on curent affairs. Take home midterms and finals, and her grading policies are cake. She liked me very much, simply because i occasionally spoke up in class. boring, but worth it.
