By far the worst instructor I've ever had, including K-12! Not only is she incredibly unfriendly, but she's also incredibly unhelpful. If you go to her office hours she'll just plop the key to the homework in front of you and go back to squinting at her computer until you leave. She taught me one thing: I don't want to be a teacher like her.

Unfriendly professor who was highly critical of us. She would teach us not to do certain things as teachers and then do them anyway. We were only allowed to teach 10 minute lectures on odd topics (tactile algebra, proofs involving compasses, etc). Disappointed with both her and the class.

Not a very good teacher. Doesnt go in depth with notes at all. Just reads the slides word for word and goes through them so fast that you cant write anything down. Floods you with assignments, has no clue what shes teaching. Wouldnt recommend to anybody

Lazy teaching, makes constant simple mistakes when grading and cant follow her own schedule. Not good at conveying information and gets her quiz and test schedule mixed up constantly. Also jammed in 6 quizzes and a test in the last three weeks because she had to rush towards the end. Dont take her.

Shes a horrible teacher. Cant teach at all and students suffer because of it. Is cramming 6 quizzes into the last three weeks because she cant follow her own schedule. Avoid at all cost.

Comment:

She really knows calculus, but not good at getting students to fully understand it. Bad teacher, but good intentions. You have to be willing to work and study hard and ask for help if you need it. Homework assignments and a quiz every week. If you come to her Calculus II class somewhat interested and willing to learn, you'll do perfectly fine.

She really knows here math stuff, but isn't the best at getting it across to students. You must have a really good foundation of previous calculus skills and concepts. Homework assignments and a quiz every week. If you do the work, study hard, and you take an interest in the material, you'll do absolutely fine.

In all honesty, I disagree with some of the statements about her personality, she's a nice person, although somewhat nasty with her comments to students. Almost every example of hers contains a mistake despite her reading off her notes. She knows the material, but students don't. Tests are fair, quizzes are impossible. Homework is a lot.

After completing Calc II with Dr. Matras, I have the following to say: Her tests are completely fair, in fact she could have made them so much harder so thank God that didn't happen. Her quizzes were ridiculous though, some questions were never presented in the homework material. Get a tutor for the graded homeworks too because they're impossible.

This professor is by far the worst I've ever had. Her personality is so dry and dull. She never smiles and if you tell her to have a good day, she'll usually ignore you. She is absolutely miserable human being. The workload: unbelievable: 10 labs, 12 quizzes, 3 major tests and a Final. rude, unhelpful, & talks down to people and makes them.

Worst prof I've had at ESU so far. She is not at all pleasant, and she never even smiles. Her class is dull and filled with random math that one probably will never use. She comes in every class with her diet soda even at 8am!! The best part of the class was looking at her ridiculous outfits that she wore!!! Farm animals and ice skating penguins!

Don't expect to get an A you have to work for it. It does not matter how hard you try in the end its your grades. She is very nice and willing to help when you go into her office. Towards the end of the year she expects u to learn from the book. She trows curve ball questions once and a while

Worst professor I've had in all of my 3 years at ESU. She is BORINGGGGGGG and I think she hates her students (esp. El. Ed. ones)!!! Take Freitag if you're Elementary Education because HE wants you to succeed and do well.

dr matras has a dry personality but an extremely nice lady... material is easy...she knows whats shes talking about... tests are easy, quizzes are easy, labs are easy. always finding a way to help you..if u pay attention in class you will get a good grade... i highly recommend her!!! she is by far the best professor i had the first semester.
