I highly recommend not taking this lady if you do not need her. All she does is read from the books and gives a exam with 4-6 questions. The questions can go all the way back to the beginning or be a minor subject she briefly spoke about. I'm an English major and I'm making a C in this class. Do not recommend, at all.

Mary is sweet lady, but she just reads out of the book and tells life stories. Really easy class is you read the assidnged readings. 4 tests, all 6 questions, essay. It's really not hard is you just do the reading. Chill class, but go because she has an attendance policy. She's easy for the most part. READ THE BOOKS. Write in detail on tests.

I received a C on every paper and after taking the final I received a B for my final grade. She is a very sweet lady who reads out of the book everyday and tells the same stories over and over. We stayed in class the entire time and cancelled class one time during the semester. If you speak up in class you will do well.

She tells the same stories 3 times each over the course of the semester. I didn't learn much. It is hard to get better than a C on her papers. In my class everyone kept getting C's except 1 person whose opinion matched hers.

All we did in this class was listen to her read essays from the book. Our papers were based on the essays she read, and the exams were based on an essay we read in class. Very easy class, but she doesn't prepare you for Eng 112. I passed 111 with a B. 112 is a different story. I recommend taking someone who is challenging..

All you do in this class is read the stories and such that she has picked out. You have 4 exams and the last one is the final. Make sure you have a book because she reads so fast and you can't understand her, plus she skips over parts.Just make sure you read the storied being tested over. Each exam is 6 ?'s in essay form.

I thought this class was pretty easy, and low stress. As long as you do the assigned reading and pay attention to what she says in class you'll be good to go. Only 4 grades the whole semester so you better do well on them. Tests are about 6 questions long, essay format. Sometimes the class was boring, but she is a really sweet old lady.

I thought her class was easy. alot of the other students in my class hated her though. I can kinda see why. She does not really teach anything about writing. She just reads and tells stories about her life all class period. But if you participate in class and write about subjects that interest her you will definately get an A.

I thought this class was VERY easy. I barely tried on my papers and the lowest I made was a B+. When I say this, however, I do not mean just write a paragraph. Also, she gives you the chance to revise them and get a better grade. Just make sure you don't miss more than the days allowed.

Horrible professor. She has barely a shred of objectivity and will grade by opinion. God is the only reason I made an A in that course. The lectures are useless: she reads to you what you should more quickly read on your own. She SHOULD lecture on how to write a paper! I was bad at it and didn't learn til I took Brannen for 112. She was great, BTW.

Dr. Cowser is great! She's friendly, helpful & a very smart lady. She has been teaching a long time, but I find her open minded, informed & up to date on topics discussed.Class is easy. Participate, try to BE ON TIME! She def improved my skills. If you try you will do well.She likes for you to think.I really enjoyed her and wish she taught 112.

Worthless class. Learned nothing about English, only her opinion. Papers aren't hard to write but if she doesn't like you topic you should expect a poor grade. Class time was her telling us the same stories over and over. I do not recommend her for any class.

I loved Professor Cowser! She doesn't mandate any set length for her papers. It doesn't matter if your paper is 2 or 10 pages. We never took a single test or quiz. We only wrote 6 essays. The final is just another essay. Attend class, pay attention, and turn your papers in on time. I highly recommend this professor!

Class was not hard, but was not fun at all to attend. I have always loved English, but she makes me want to burn books. Talks about her perosnal life way too much. She grades on a scale that has not been used in ages. If you don't select the words that she prefers from her 1930's vocabulary, it's wrong. Find a different teacher if possible.

I had her for 270 and 271 and both classes were a breeze. She makes the material relevant to current events and makes class interesting. The tests are all essay tests and there are 4 of them for 25% of your grade apiece. Read your book and you will pass at the very least.

She does tell a lot of stories about her life and yes some do get old. But as for people saying you cannot make an A in her class i will say that is wrong. this was my first english class in 8 years and i came out with an A. She is willing to help anytime needed.
