I used to really like Mary David. She is really funny in class and she is very clear. However, don't try handing in a late paper. She will give you a zero. I gave her a late paper and she assured me that it would be graded as if I had handed it on time. Two weeks later, however, I got my paper back with a big 0 on it.

If you want to be taught, don't take her class. If you want to teach yourself, take her class. Up tp 200 slides to memorize for exams-some of the questions are not covered in the study guide. Only plus is the time of the class, and the paper only needs to be 2 pgs long

She allows laptops, and there are occasional pop quizzes. You can use your notes for the the quizzes. Class is mandatory in the sense that if your not there then you don't get to take the quizzes. Her test are harder than the other art history teachers.

Funny. Teaches straight from the textbook so if you have the book it makes notetaking much easier. Even without the book it is easy to do well since she publishes study guides on blackboard. I definitely recommend.

She was funny but class seemed to go on and on. Its a lot of writing because she won't let you use a laptop to take notes. She has pop quizes, but you can use your notes. Exams were difficult because you need to memorize a lot of info. I took this as an elective and it was my hardest class, but I still got and A.

Mary David was an interesting & funny prof. I enjoyed her class but sometimes they dragged on for what seemed like forever. Attendance is not mandatory but I do recommend attending every class because that will make the tests much easier. Her study guides don't help all that much with the tests so just go to class & you'll get a good grade!

Very funny and calls out the dummies in class. Keeps you interested. Beware of pop quizzes though. You can use notes and books for these quizzes, so they are not too difficult.

Beware Not a Cake class. took class wtr 08 got a D- retook wtr10 got a B (saved by the xtra credit quiz). Attendance not mandatory, but its the best way to do well. Need a great memory for this class. Also, have to go to art museum. She made class as interesting as she could. GET THE BOOK!

Mary David is by far the funniest teacher i have had to date. Make sure you study online quizes and if she tells you of any review sessions go to them they will tell you alot of what is on the test. I loved Mary David and i regret not being able to take her for the winter quarter.

Mary David not only is well informed with the subject of European Art History, but she also has a great sense of humor and can maintain a student interest in the class. If you love or hate art, this is the teacher to take. It's difficult not to learn in David's class because her intellegence and wit would be hard to ignore.

Took her for all 3 Art Histories. Has a great sense of humor, but can come off as a little frightening at first. DO THE WORK ON THE WEBSITE! It WILL be on the test. The tests are easy, but you do have to study and do some work. While it may be easy to skip, coming to class makes it easier to remember the info without studying as much.

Hilarious is a good word that sums up this professor. She is very unique and makes tests easy. She really makes me care about art history, tho...not really easy on the eyes, and a bit "bohemian" in her dressing style. I would recommend for the easy "A".

I LOVED HER I don't think I want to class more then 5 times each quarter, but she made it very easy for you to pass the test. she told you what was on it. and when i did go to class i enjoyed her lecture because of her silly comments and faces. She even patted me on the head once and told me i was special!
