For my final paper, I spent a month doing research. This was to me the best thing I had written up to that point. She gave me a D-. I asked if could talk with her after class, and I said this calmly without being rude. Without even so much as looking me in the eye she said, "Nope, semesters over." I asked again, NO RESPONSE, not one word.

Comment:

Very organized and always willing to help. Lectures are a bit monotone, imo. She assigns a ton of reading for both the speech and history parts but you really only need to read the speech stuff because she gives you what you need for the history exams. Show up, prepare your speeches, read the speech stuff and GO TO EXAM REVIEW and you're fine.

Wouldn't recommend. Only goes over paintings and some art defintions during the lectures and leaves alot out. Syllabus doesn't give a hint to how much tests and other assignments are worth and demands alot. Nice enough person but just a hard class/

The grading criteria is never clear. There are few tests so few chances to do well. She wants A LOT of detail in context but is not clear herself. It's impossible to know that much information for just a semester class. I would NOT recommend and I would NOT take another class with her.

Very good professor the material is not difficult you just have to remember what she says about the piece, and everything she says is in the textbook also. The textbook does help but is not needed just take really good notes and make flashcards.

This class will require a LOT of studying, as with any art history course. She knows her material and if you take good notes and study, you'll do great on the tests. Be prepared to do a LOT of research for her research paper though. If I didn't get a 2.5 on the paper, I would have gotten at least a 3.7 in the class. [I'm an art student.]

My favorite art history professor by far! She knows her stuff and never fails to impress. Listen, take good notes, and be respectful and classes are a breeze. She lets you write papers on topics that interest you, which is awesome :)

She is an incredibly intelligent woman. The class is very basic, so it's an easy A if you pay attention and respect her. The class goes a lot better if you try to answer her questions, otherwise you will be sitting there for a while, so pay attention so you can keep things moving along.

She is a wonderful professor, she is willing to help everyone and loves what she is doing. her teaching style is very cheerful. the whole semester was a blast, a couple of rough patches and if you don't care for art history you would hate this course. but compared to my other art professors she was the best.

Comment:

My introduction to art history was with Dr. McNamara, and for that I am thankful. She is pleasant, organized, and not overtly demanding. Thus, one could learn as much as one wanted to in a laid back environment.
