I took Image & Text with Professor Skeen. She makes you work for your grades, but gives great feedback on the assignments. I really enjoyed working on the projects she gave, and will definitely will take her again.

If you're looking for an "easy A" class to fulfill your fine arts core DO NOT take Basic Digital Photo with Skeen. In this class, you will have about 20 photos due each week. She is a hard grader and at times, it's difficult to know what she wants. I spent about 3 hours per week working on my projects, which is a lot more than in other art classes

Grades are somewhat subjective. Photography assignments are often very specific, slightly unusual, and potentially time consuming. Be prepared to take pictures outside of dorms and in public. Required to take photographs of other students and on occasion may end up in the photo lab printing pictures outside of class. Not horrible, not very good tho

Prof Skeen was very clear in her intentions for the course;photography is her passion and you can see it every day in class;Projects were fun for the most part albeit sometimes very time consuming and planning intensive,She will very rarely grade too harshly, she's really just looking for project to project improvement;definitely take for art core

Her basic class is really easy. As long as you show that you have an interest in the class, and put the time and effort in, the class is an easy A then. The first project, I got a B- in but after 2nd project, I got all A's and ended up with an A in the class. At first she'll give you a bad grade, but in the end, there's no reason not to have an A.

Not helpful or understanding at all. Her grade is not as much based on quality of your work, rather whether she likes you or not. If she does not like you, watch out, she will be rude and nasty towards you and give you poor grades no matter how much time and effort you put into an assignment.
