Mary is honestly one of the best professors I have had/will ever have. She is such a great teacher, encouraging and invested in individual growth of each student. You will grow so much from her classes whether you are an art major or not. She is also an amazing and interested person. CMU(/the world) needs more professors like Mary!

I took Drawing 1 and two ADV Painting Studios with Mary. She is fantastic. She gives relevant, frequent assignments and critiques. Mary cares and becomes invested in your growth as artist, and because of this interest became my mentor over the past years. She grades very fairly, but when you receive an A you know you deserve it.

As far as drawing professors go, Mary is one of the best. Her outside HW is relevant to in class assignments and outside projects. She offers great instruction and tips for improvement. She keeps you busy throughout the semester but in the end it pays off when you can see how far you've come. Highly recommend her classes.

Great teacher, gets you out of your comfort zone. Gives great crits, and teaches! She also cares about her students, email her, talk to her any time recommended for majors and non-majors I had her for drawing, take anything with her it will help you.

Excellent drawing teacher! Really teaches you how to look at what you're drawing and to focus on creating the structure of your forms. Homework assignments complement the classroom assignments nicely. HW load is sometimes heavy. Had her for painting also but I preferred her drawing instruction. Only for her would I get up at 8 am.
