Honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had. She marks way to hard for a first year English course, and she has no leniency when it comes to other peoples opinions rather than her own. You can spend days on an essay (which I did) and make it some of your best work and Ol' Ms. Jantzen will still give you a 60 on it. In short, don't take her

This class almost soured me completely on the humanities. Marking of essays always seemed very arbitrary and comments on them were vague and unhelpful. Knowledge of basic grammar was seriously lacking (e.g. insisted for an entire period that "we" is a third person pronoun).

Awful professor. The books she chose were so BORING - and most of them focused on one subject - Mennonite history. EXTREMELY opinionated and preachy, you can't disagree with her. Actually made fun of students answers. Grades very hard, especially for a first year class. Heavy work load. I eventually dropped the class.

The texts that she chose were all similar. They were all about Mennonites which fine for the first book but after taht... The course was very reptitive and boring. I didn't learn very much in that class

Prof. Jantzen isn't the greatest professor ever - class is mostly spent with her talking about her interpretation of a short story/poem. If you disagree with what she says and write about it in a paper, you'll most likely get a bad grade. I found it very hard to figure out what writing style she is looking for. She is passionate about her ideas tho

She asked a question about if anyone had heard of a certain park and I had so I put my hand up. Then she asked me where it was and I said something that was incorrect and she laughed at me. She didn't originally ask if anyone knew where it was, just if anyone had heard of it. Didn't say anything in that class again. Worst time ever! Terrible prof.

I timed her one class...and the longest period of time that she did not talk for was 23 seconds. Imagine sitting in a class where the teacher just talks at 100 mph. You can basically just sit in the back of class, lean back and do nothing, because she just talks all day.
