She is very nice and you can tell she has a passion for reading. As long as you read the material you can make an A in the class. It's a lot of reading but they are all short stories. I highly recommend her classes.

Amazing professor, she's so fun in class and helps you the whole time. The class is really easy as long as you participate and show up. You only have to read two books the whole semester, but you do have to read poems or short stories for class everyday. You don't actually have to understand the stories thug because she does all the explaining.

Such a great professor! Of course you have to put effort in to readanswer study questions, but she goes over everything in class and is willing to explain anything you don't understand. Her quiz questions typically come from the study questions, and her review for the test is exactly what will be on the test. Made an easy 100 on the quizzesexams!

I took World Lit with Hartje last semester as a comm major looking to fulfill a soph lit credit. I loved her class so much, I switched to an English major and haven't looked back since. Honestly - Just read what you're supposed to read and get ready to delve into discussions about those readings. She is absolutely wonderful. TAKE HER CLASS!

Hartje was awesome! I had her for brit lit and aced it. She does have you read for class each day but it's just a completion grade so it's very easy. If you know someone that has taken the class before I recommend getting with them and talking. Hint hint. I don't like poetry at all, but enjoyed this class

Making an A in this class is simple. It all depends on whether you show up and do the assigned readings. Quizzes each week, no papers to write and she makes the final exempt to students who earn an A before the end of the semester. Excellent teacher!! Really enjoyed this class. Prepared to be called upon and to really discuss the readings!

Took her for Victorian Lit last semester. Hardest class I've ever taken. I did great on all of the pop quizzes and projects, but her grading system is horrible! She gets grad students to come in and grade your papers. She never told me what I did wrong either. Just would stop marking. never had trouble in Eng before. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The class was fun, but dont take her for writing. I never quite understood how she graded. I got an A on the first paper, and so far, 2 Bs and a C. She always counted off for stupid things like word choice that no one else pointed out during peer editing. It just didnt seem fair. I wish I woulda talked to her about it.
