Very friendly and caring professor. Quite funny in class. He gives a lot of quizzes which motivates you to keep up with the pace. Replies to emails really fast.

He is quite funny and friendly but I feel that he is not specific enough on what he expects us to do. This class is HARD, though; don't be deceived by the mid-70's averages. You need to stop messing up your particles if you want an A or more. The finals are more or less inconsequential for this class.

Best sensei ever! Extremely kind and very willing to help. His personality is adorable. Overall one of the best teachers I ever had! Although attendance is highly recommended, Nakata sensei is very willing to help you catch up on missed assignments and tests. I highly recommend his class :)

Nakata sensee is an excellent teacher!He is extremely helpful and is always willing to answer our questions!I love how he makes this class very fun and interesting...Even though it's stressful sometimes but he makes us just want to learn and do well inthe course!.Overall,he is a fantastic teacher and I hope to take his class again in the future!!

I took jap103 during summer!! It was kind of intense though he made us feel alright and had break enoughly(it was three week course n 9:30 to 2:30) he is very helpful and nice guy and cutest guy ever!! He does not want to fail anyone, if you study hard you will get good mark!!

Nakata Sensei is very humorous I have to say. I think he's also really helpful, responsible, and most importantly, patient to his students. Everyone gets a plenty of chances to practice their speaking and writing Japanese in class. Well, I had Ode Sensei last semester as well but I do think they are both nice profs. I'd recommend both of them.

Nakata sensei is ok. I wouldn't say he is "very good". He is not clear in explanation in many details,so just read the textbook in depth. However, in my opinion, I found Ode, Maki sensei is a lot better! She explains everything well. Highly recommend her. Too bad she did not teach in Spring 2011, but no worry, she will be back in Sept

Even tho I had him in JAPN 100, his teaching style is completely different in intermediate lv. He speaks Japanese most of the time, which is very useful for my learning of Japanese. Quizzes and exams can be difficult, so make sure u understand everything and read ahead before coming to class and you'll learn a lot from him!

I LOVE YoU NAKATA SENESEI!!! YOU ROCK MY SOCKS OFF! This is the BEST Japanese/Language prof i've ever had. He knows more about english grammar than I do, and he related it to japanese to make it crystal clear! If you want to take japanese you MUST get him for 100.

He was the first prof who I am really going to miss after taking his course. He really made the course fun and interesting. I's one of the really nice and effective instructors that I had in my first year. You will really enjoy the way he teaches; I think it's really cute. Tanoshii deshita, yokkata desu. I had fun.

Altho these two courses r VERY intensive during summer, Nakata-sensei did a GREAT job! He is really nice & always eager to answer questions. He speaks good English, too. However, if you are looking for a relaxing course during summer, please take something else....or you need to work hard! Got pretty good grades tho. Took him in both Japn 100+101.

He is a great teacher! He's funny, adorable and is always clear on his lessons. Not to mention, he always adds some cultural information to the lesson to make things more interesting. I want to minor in Japanese because of this wonderful man!
