Comment:
I had Dr. Shoja for chem lab 1 and 2. He seems very intimidating but is actually a very kind person. He can be a tough grader and will call you out if you do something incorrect during lab, but if you get on his good side he will return your kindness and be very helpful. At times he is very funny and will always let you out of lab very early.

Shoja is the best option for chem lab. His lectures are clear and straight to the point. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the lab and nothing more. We always got out early from lab. Unlike other lab professors, he gives lots of 10s on post labs which is so nice! STUDY for the quizzes they make or break your grade!!!

You can tell that the guy is very smart, don't get me wrong, it's just I wasn't comfortable with his teaching style. He can come off as a bit intimidating but do the work and you'll be fine. Also, his jokes can be pretty funny too sometimes

Prof. Shoja is an amazing chem professor. He is very clear during lecture, despite his slight accent. Tests are kind of hard but he is clear about what will be on them. You do have to study a lot but he makes that clear. He is also a pretty funny guy. Overall the best choice for Fordham Gen Chem.

This guy is quite possibly the greatest chemistry professor on planet earth. He is so funny and engaging. He doesn't' bother saying random things that you don't need for the test. He talks very slow and only says what you need. He is very high yield and easy to follow. I 3 Shoja.

If you read the chapters in the textbook, then you'll get an A. He seems like just a sweet old man but beware he can be a tough cookie. Although he can be surprisingly sarcastic and hilarious.

He and the entire chem department purposely gave no partial credit, destroying test averages and forcing a lot of us noontime majors (engineers have to take it) to drop and take it again later. He's not nice to individual students.

He may seem scary, but he is very approachable if you need help! He explains his work very clearly, so if you do all the practice problems his way, you should get a good grasp on each chapter. The tests aren't always written by him, but are difficult. He rewards points for certain steps he sees in a problem, so you can't always get partial credit.

Although he appears unapproachable, he is very kind. I had him for chem lab but he's pretty tough but will help you and soon will realize what a kind person he is. And if he likes you, that's good!!! He is very tough on tests/quizzes, so you have to work for a good grade.

Dr. Shoja is great professor. He loves chemistry, and explains the material in a very straightforward way; he does not beat around the bush. If you want to do well in his class, you need to study and do the practice exams. Doing the book homework helps too. His recitations are also quick and to the point. Very nice, funny, and overall great prof.

Really good at teaching the subject! General Chem is hard no matter who you take. He teaches with examples, and if you have him for recitation and lecture too, he clarifies a lot. He asks the class if we have any questions, but no one answers because he will make you look stupid. Just study a lot and you'll be fine. You need at least 6 days before.

Dr. Shoja is extremely knowledgable in chemistry. He enjoys his job and his jokesrandom tidbits of information make the class a bit more enjoyable. If you're not willing to show up to every class and to put in the studying, don't take this. He wants you to completely understand the information, and if you don't, it will reflect in your test grades

He's a very nice guy and teaches with examples. All of the chemistry dept. gets the same exams, so the exams obviously aren't any different with him. The way he grades the exams, however, is beyond me. He does curve exams because people fail them all, but sometimes I don't understand the grading (10 extra points were taken off my test than needed).

Everyone who has negative comments about Prof Shoja is just bitter about their grade. This is the most challenging class I have ever taken; however, I love Shoja. I think he is by far the best gen chem professor. He is a great teacher and very nice. I got a C+ which obviously I'm not happy about but definitely what I deserved and I do not blame him

It seems like he doesn't enjoy teaching anymore and has little patience for students, and does not like to explain things thoroughly. I dropped his class, and retook it with another instructor and have returned to my 'A' average in the subject. He also has a bad temper.

I can't believe how horrific this experience has been. This guy teaches nothing, does not give you any suggestions on how to prepare for tests, doesn't give partial credit and generally has no concern for the students. He discouraged the entire class from wasting the summer when the class ave was failing for the first exam. DO NOT TAKE THIS!
