Comment:
Dr. Marmorino is incredibly knowledgable in his field and wants nothing more than to teach his students everything he can. He eagerly awaits questions in lecture. Never feel that your question is silly, he'll help you understand anything. Do the practice problems he assigns from the book. They really help!

The class is very dry to begin with unless you are uber interested in chemistry. He has some humor, although dry, but is better than nothing to keep the class awake. The material is difficult and requires lots of outside effort and studying. Tests are all multiple choice and the final is not comprehensive. Overall, come prepared to work.

Do your homework and practice the material often and you will do fine. He shares many techniques to help you remember the material which is very helful. I still use his techniques in C101/C125

Taking this over the summer was difficult. Matt makes chemistry easy to understand. Definately 200% better than Dr. Huitink!! If you read, pay attention in class, and do your homework then you will pass this class with a good grade. You must study to understand chemistry.

Everyone gives Matt a bum rap. His class is a breeze if you're prepared to do the homework. He made lectures interesting. He may be smarter than most people but he tries to put in it lay terms for us common folk

This was a very difficult class to begin with. The material is hard to understand and he didn't make it any easier. However, It wasnt as though he didnt know what he was saying, rather, it seemed like he had a difficult time bringing all of what he knew down to a 100 level class setting. if u take it be prepared to study yur butt off!!

This professor is still learning what reasonable expectations are. Some tests were ridiculously hard, but he tried to make up for this on later exams. I am a junior with a 3.9 average, and he has made this one of the most challenging classes I have ever taken. Recommended if you want to learn.

The material is tough, but the prof is great. He explains things in a way that you can "see" the molecules & the problems. If you don't study, then of course you'll get less than 60% on exams. If you can't hang in this class, how will you manage your tougher classes? JUST STUDY! Great Job Prof!

Gives a VERY generous grading scale yet more than 60% of the class gets less than a 60% score on the exams. Covers lack of need to master the material by giving 40% of overall grade to just showing up. Translation: don't have LEARN anything to pass. A change in class structure would do wonders.

Professor Marmarino- A physical chemist teaching a general chemistry course. Although his genious is apparent, his ability to make a simple area (of chemistry) unnervingly difficult is as well.

Quite possibly the worst professor on campus. Lectures to hear his wn voice. Can't explain theories in simple terms and whines incessately about his lack of popularity. Just read the book once and you'll learn more than this man will ever bother to tea

If you put the effort in to study at the beginning of the semester, the end is a breeze. Everything is cumulative and hardest concepts are learned towards the beginning. I think Matt was a wonderful teacher. Work hard, your in college now.

Nice Guy. Horrible Teacher. We aren't physical chemists. 90% of us are just trying to get through the course so we can get into med school, vet school, pharmacy school,or dental school. With his class we now have to work 10 times harder to make up for it
