What a guy. One of Kenyon's great lecturers capable of weaving together a social-science tapestry that goes well-beyond boilerplate history. France was never so interesting as when this man talks about it.

This man is a genius. He has mastered the english language. Half the time I didn't understand his words, but could always follow his structured and laid out lectures. I learned more from him than any other professor I've ever had. He alone made me love history.

I've taken 3 classes w/ Prof. Maguire. He's excellent -- whether you're looking to fulfill your distribution requirements or are a budding history major, I'd recommend ANY of his classes highly (I've taken Modern Europe, Modern France, and Early Modern Europe w/ him).

Had him for IPHS and early modern europe. Seminar was great, and helpful at explaining difficult concepts. In lecture, gives precise and focused, but be prepared to take a lot of notes. Also, does a good job of trying to bring in discussion even in a lecture size class. Great, and smart prof, take a class with him if possible.

My most rewarding class. Maguire really pushes you to think beyond what you thought you could. YEA, he's awkward and spacey, always staring at some spot on the seminar table while he spits bullets of genius, but he generates mindblowing conversation. really inspirational, one of those teachers you never forget. I can't wait til he comes back

Profesor Maguire is awesome. He's demanding, but worth it. He once compared the turn of the nineteenth century to the turn of the twentieth through Nirvana. Also he's the real life version of Harry Potter's Profesor Lupin
