Really hard class, you have to keep on your toes the whole time. You have to be able to handle a short time to do a LOT of work, and you must always expect the unexpected. BIG TIP...GO TO CLASS!!!! So much is given out during class...it's absolutly necessary. It may even benifit you to know her cat's name...it certainly halped me...

i say anybody that wrote on here that the class was hard is not a good student, if you just do her work you will get an A, like i did. i thought she was a really good teacher and it was one of the few classes i actually got something out of last semester, it is not an impossible class at all, you just have to work hard so it will be a great class

Dr. Spirek is a brillant professor. Yes, she does come off rude and obnoxious the first couple weeks of class, but you get used to it with by the first month. She is determined and hard working, and really shows an intrest in her students. Join the BG 24news and she will love you!

She has a terrible grading scale. Tests out of 100 are complicatedly valued in a 12 point scale. 97-100 = 12. 93-96= 11 and it goes down from there. Seems ok till u realize that getting a B=8. 8/12 = 75 so Bs become Cs. Worse Cs = 6 which mean 6/12= F. Basically impossible to get an A in this class

If you are a good student, take this class. Miss class or do sloppy work and she will not except emailed excuses. Go to her office - she will spend time and answer all questions. I started with a D+ and earned an A with extra credit. YOU MUST MAKE AN EFFORT!

Egotistical and bragged about her superior connections for the first two weeks. she is knowledgeable yet shows it in a very rude way. class is not mandatory however if you dont show up, plan on making a friend in that class because she will give you no help through email. she treats jour 100 as a level 300 class. struggles to give minimal help.

Melissa Spirek is egotistical and rude. Make sure to call her Dr. because she will remind you that she didn't go to school for 50 years to be called anything less. . .Overall, I had a horrible experience and think the Journalism department would be a lot better off without her
