Loved him! Very hard grader and the material is difficult but such a sweet and caring professor. He helped me a lot. If you ask for help and you are lost on certain material, he will go out of his way to help you understand.

Take PSY141 with him & only him!! Best prof. He explains everything down to the T and is so willing to give extra help if you ask. Never condescending to questions. I feel so prepared for Grad school now after his class. Teaches writing style format excellently. Exams are redic hard, but the study guide he provides is sooooo helpful. Recommend!!

dr barnes is amazing, i have never in my life had such a great, caring professor. he makes this work dummy proof, i swear! anyone would be a fool not to take him any chance they get! his work is very hard but u come out smarter than anyone else who took research methods with a different teacher! highly recommend!! all teachers should be like him

Take him! He will prepare you for grad school and will help you through the difficult work he assigns. His tests are about 3 hours each, but your hard work pays off in the end when you actually LEARN something and have the information STILL stored in your brain for your future.

Dr. Barnes is the best professor I've had at Hofstra. He knows the subject well and really tries to get you to understand the material. I was scared of this class going in, but it ended up being my favorite to go to. He's hilarious and genuinely cares about his students. Take him!

Dr. Barnes is by far the worst professor I have had in all four years. He does not teach anything that we need to know for the 4 hour tests that he gives. Anyone who gave him a good rating is delusional. AVOID this man with your life. You will probably not pass no matter how smart you are, or how interested in the topic you are.

Professor Barnes is probably the best professor at Hofstra. He is a really tough grader but you will learn. He is hilarious and knows how to interact with students. Dr. Barnes genuinely cares about his students/job. He's more than just a professor; he is a mentor and a motivational figure. I will definitely take a class with Dr. Barnes again.

Really cool and hilarious guy. I had taken a stats class before and did fine but Hofstra didnt accept the credits. Barnes makes it a lot harder than it needs to be. He cares a lot about the neatness of homework and sometimes takes off points if your lines arent straight enough.You have to make sure you do things EXACTLY the way he wants.

Prof Barnes is the BEST!!! He made learning Statistics soo easy! I came into this semester dreading this class and it ended up being my favorite! He's very funny and makes it all easy to understand. He is a little anal with detail but all in all, he's great! Makes me laugh every day. Take him!!

Dr. Barnes is a wonderful professor! Don't get me wrong, the class is difficult, but if you do the work you'll be fine. You need to read the book, go to class and make sure you pay attention, especially to details. Don't believe bad comments, they come from people who didn't do the work and are bitter cause they got bad grades.

Nice person, really intelligent but EXTREMELY difficult professor. He nit picks and makes it really hard to do well. His tiny preferences will most likely make it hard for you to get an A even if you really do deserve one. Overall, I'm not satisfied with the course, more should have been spent on discussions rather than stat problems.

This class is hard. You must attend in order to learn. Barnes takes his job very seriously & expects students to do the same, but he is a sweetheart & hilariously funny & if you take him you will really learn something. He is always helpful and I have a huge amount of respect & admiration for him! If you are a dedicated student you will as well.

Ok, this is fair and unbiased. This is the truth about Dr. Barnes. He's a great guy, good personality. Very funny. He's helpful and always available for extra help when you need it. He's quick to respond to your emails. I'm not a math person and I only needed to take this course for my major. It's REALLY hard. Avoid if you can.
