Comment:

Dr. Bentley was a very confusing teacher to have. He did not clearly answer any questions asked of him and he would always run off topic during his lectures. The only way I was able to earn my mark was to study the previous exams because the final and midterm were identical to the practice exams. Not a good professor, but his class was ~ easy.

Comment:

Dr. Bentley may seem quite intimidating, but he is actually very amiable. Be prepared to study everyday, especially considering that the course occurs at twice the rate of fall and winter courses. Practice exams are extremely helpful, and while he doesn't post answers, you should be able to figure out if it's right as long as you know your stuff.

Don't even bother buying the textbook. The exams were IDENTICAL to the exam package so study those instead! No answers are posted so be sure to master them. The prof is nice outside of class but intimidating in bio. The labs have assignments due at the end so know your material. Take it in the spring, get it over with and master the practice exams

I thought that Dr. Bentley was quite very helpful in class. He provided a number of helpful resources, including old midterms and finals, and went over every type of problem in class. He also set-up and taught pre-exam tutorials for students. While he wasn't always the most clear individual, students just need to practice to obtain a decent mark.

He legit is THE WORST prof I've ever had. Extremely condescending so don't even bother asking him a question. I would rather extend my graduation than take another course with him again. Make sure you study the final using the exam pack because it is identical. Downside: no answers, so if you screw up on the practice, you're screwed on the exam

He is by far the worst prof i have ever had. Doesn't post any notes/outline online , so you better have a speedy hand. No solutions to practice midterm / finals so you don't even know if you are getting the question fully or not. I will probably have to take this course with a better prof... AVOID

I was planning to get an A in this class. I got C+ in the midterm. Had to work my ass off for the final which was very wierd as u dont kno if ur answers are right or not cos thers no solution given. and he doesnt give u proper answers when u go and ask him. avoid if possible. if not then make sure u kno each question in the practice exams.... ....

This prof by far is the worst Ive had in bio department. Notes are unorganized, doesn't give any help when you ask a question, makes you feel stupid when you ask, goes on a tangent on useless information in lecture, doesnt give you time to copy notes down, exams are too long and he doesnt even know how to answer his own practice problems. AVOID!!!

This class wasted tonnes of money. This guy is hideous. He doesn't help you. And he is very rude when it comes to regrading. He doesn't post his notes on blackboard. He doesn't post marks on blackboard either. His tests are very very very very hard.All tests are written. Graded out of 100 marks to give you your actual percentage.

Very Very Rude prof.Having very hard time coping up with class. He designs extremely hard exams and on top of that he is a very very BAD grader. Either you know it you don't. No partial marks are awarded.And one question is avrg worth 10-14 marks.. and he marks out of 100 = straight your %.

Rude, He is very very rude.Asked for regrading which was legitmate just cuz I didnt exactly wrote his definations directly from his notes . He gave me zero. Upo regrading he said "If u will ask for regrading , I will regrade ur entire exam and this time ur grade will be much lower". Upon asking for apptmnt he didnt reply me bck.. VERY RUDE.

Dr. Bentley is infamous for scolding students whom ask him questions. Whenever a student asks a question, Dr. Bentley doesn't even answer the question correctly or at all. He decides to go on a conversational tangent with his response to the question. The midterm & final exams contain material that doesn't even correlate with the lecture material.

Deliberately "offends" you when you ask questions, so you have to take it like he's joking to you. Just do old exams, understand it, and compare answers with 20 other people, then you'll be fine. No answers are given. Lectures are useless also. Barrette-Ng is nice, but her Fall genetics taught with Hansen is ALOT harder than this class, trust me.
