Cullen was a truly incredible man. He was an amazing teacher. He made going to class every day such a joy, plus I learned a lot. When I heard that he had passed away I was so upset, and I think of him often. My sincerest apologies go out to his friends and family, as I'm sure he is incredibly missed. A special man who changed the lives of so many.

Great Prof! He really opens your eyes and teaches you not only communications but life skills. You'll have to work hard and come to class to get a good mark. Textbook assignment was awesome. He's willing to help you and writes great reference letters. Lectures are not structured and expectations can be unclear. Overall one of uvic's best

Cullen is an awesome prof. You work for your marks (which some people aren't used to). Welcome to life. Class is always lively. He doesn't pick favorites, he realizes students' efforts. If you work hard, he will like you. Go to every class and write down EVERYTHING he says! By FAR the most useful course I have taken at UVic.

Very interesting guy. You could probably learn something from him...if he was your buddy. He's got a TON of useful communication knowledge (you can tell: he always macks on all the women -- and is GOOD at it). He's a little unclear as to what he expects; if he could present his class in a more structured format he would be a fantastic prof.

Oh, gosh. It was like a nebula; interesting, but foggy. Here's a summary: likes color pictures on title pg, take out "we", "the reader", etc in essays, write like you talk, don't say "um", a good title can raise a letter grade, picks on people to read and then interrupts. Has a skewed sense of humor. But...he's nice--at least to me. =)

Definitely picks favourites. Assignments very unclear. Doesn't have much of a grading scheme. Loves being rude. Makes the class very interesting but frustrating if you are used to getting the mark you deserve. Made us create our own textbook at the end of the class with all his handouts/lectures paraphrased. Be warned!

Cullen rocks! Class was enjoyable and assignments were fine if you pay attention and do a bit of work. Tough if you do it all at the last minute. Tons of valuable material in lectures. Cullen's a cool guy

Cullen is entertaining and you will never look at the clock in his class. His assignments are unclear but you are guarenteed to get between a C+ and B. To get a good mark you need to be on of his favorites. If you aren't he will not care about you or your grade.....AT ALL.

Cullen is a great guy, hilarious, intelligent and class is never boring, but damn he marks hard for a first year eng prof that most people are just taking as a requirement!! You will learn a lot though, just prepared to work for it. And, yeah. Don't say um.

An amazing and inspiring prof- In my 5 years of University, this was one of the most valuable courses I took; I use the info to this day in scholastic and business endeavors. Professional writing is a must-have for us all and he is an excellent source of information you will use for life. If you have the chance take a pro. writing course with him.

Michael Cullen is not only a professor of English, he should be a professor of life! His English classes are to the point and he explains things that would assist in the development of every student. The power of nothing, nothing is more powerful than the power of nothing. Just an example of a few wise words by Cullen.
