He's a great professor if you don't mind receiving a B or lower. His grading policy is incredibly tough, and he even tells you the first day of class. Expect to read a lot in his class, and you have to make sure to read, or you will certainly fail the midterm and final. If you need it for your core classes, try another professor. He's tough.

I love this prof, took him twice already and taking another course with him next semester. A LOT of reading, but he is very insightful and his lectures are interesting. Values student input and expects you to participate. But if you do the work you will do well and get something out of it.

Every COR 3107 reads 1+ bookweek. Write downhighlight passages he speaks of, they will be on 1st test. Lots of essays. His answer is correct answer, learn it, no freedom of interpretation. Must submit draft for review, no matter how good you think you are, can't disagree with critics he's read or will get poor grade. Monotone, but interesting.

Reading marathon! He made us read 12 books! We had to read one full book a week! You will get bored and you better come well caffeinated as was said below. Not very helpful if u have questions on papers. Do not use spark notes. not enough info there. Must read whole book.

Tweed jacket kind of professor. He is very interesting if you come to class properly caffeinated. He is thorough with the material and charming with his asides, though if you cross him (poor attendance, etc.) he'll kick up a fuss. Pretty tough grader but really just make sure you have enough time in your schedule to read the material &you'llbefine.

If you are serious about English literature, do NOT take him. His lectures are torturous to one's attention span. He tends to make literary assertions that are mundane, obvious, and uninteresting. He seems bored to death of the material that he teaches and thus he never delves too deep. He also happens to have a very unpleasant attitude. Stay away.

A good professor, knows his stuff quite well. But it a very hard grader, so if you are not ready to be tested, don't take him! His books and voice tone are boring, you must do work outside of class to keep up! There's only a midterm, final and 2 papers in a class. Overall very hard, but still a good teacher.

Professor Gelber is FANTASTIC! I was absolutely enthralled by his lecture. Many found him boring but they did not appreciate the quality of a TRUE intellectual. I loved him & the literature used in the class. He is open to all ideas but can be curt. I definitely recommend him to students who actually READ the text & care about literature.

Professor Gelber truly knows his stuff. He hardly takes attendance and there is only one paper a midterm and final. Plus, he covers whatever is on the test repeatedly in class. There were a lot of books to read but still overall a great professor.

Like he always says there are two schools of everything, that is his favorite line. Anyway this man is a total waste of both your time and inclination, he is haughty, obnoxious, sarcastic, lazy, always late, horrible grader, spiteful and the list can go on and on.It is clear nothing is ever up to his "aristocratic standards, maybe if he is so good he
