Great teacher, had us go to the birch aquarium, Naturnal History Museum and a mandatory trips to the laguna Mountains. The tests are a bit hard, with studying you'll at least get a C. You don't need the textbook nor the root words dictionary. The lectures are boring but the teacher is very nice and understanding. There are lab quizzes so go to lab

I think Bio110 is an amazing class to take (especially with Golden) and it should be a requirement for all. This professor clearly explains his expectations from you towards the class. He applies his lectures towards current events and real life. You can tell he writes his tests for students to succeed. One of the best professors I've ever had.

Overall, he is a great professor. He knows his Biology and answers any questions students may have. If you pay attention and take notes, you wont have a problem. You also take quite a few field trips. Very knowledgeable professor, easy-going and great instructor.

This new hybrid (half online/half lecture) is awful. You get almost nothing from one day of lecture and the online simutext is a terrible idea. I think the professor is a nice guy, and really wants you to learn something from him and pass his class. However, the lecture is 85% him rambling about things completely unrelated to the subject matter.

Pros & cons. Lots of field trips in the lab (most of them are independent which seems like a scam so he can cancel half the lab meetings while u go to places and do the work on ur own). He drops your lowest midterm and lab score which is SUPER helpful. His study guides and other materials seem outdated like they dont always align which is annoying

He is a pretty understandable guy and is there to help during office hours. His assignments are clear and simple, just put in some time and effort and you'll do fine. There are also some cool field trips.

I've always struggled with Bio in high school and was a bit scared to take a Bio class in college but he made it so easy to understand! He cares about what he does and wants everyone to succeed. Overall, one of the best teachers I've had!

He's very political in nature, but I do respect him and the way he believes in what he talks about. Sometimes he will get off topic and talk through the entire lecture. Offers tons of extra credit. Also strict on attendance, as he is a firm believer in student participation. Overall, good teacher and passionate about education.

I liked the class. It was pretty easy if you study. Honestly, I dont care about politics one way or another. But the only time I remember him talking about Trump is when we talked about climate change. I saw some cry babies below and one of them was in my lab. Dude. Learn to read at college level.

I took the BIO 110 split course and yes it was lecture heavy but the material was relevant and applicable to the tests. THE FIELD TRIPS ARE MANDATORY BUT INTERACTIVE AND RELAXING! This course includes various topics, such as nutrition and climate change, that force you to understand the ideas through the eyes of someone who truly knows the topic.

I don't see the negative reviews here, Im in his class and do not see eye to eye with his political views (fully anyway) but he's still a great teacher, and I am ex military. Good teacher, and generally wants his students to pass. Study hard and pay attention you'll do fine. Don't and well, you get what ya give. BIO is political, so it does fit.

Michael Golden is a very good person. He wants you to succeed and you can definitely see that. He comes to class energetic and ready to teach on a daily basis. Although the tests were hard at times, he went over each exam to see what we missed. I would take him again, and make sure you come to class. His labs are fun, but make sure you do not miss.

The class is simple, attend class and take notes on what he puts on the board because it's on the quiz or test. There are field trips some with class and some you do on your own time, just try not to procrastinate on them. You don't need the book and the hw is probably the easiest thing just look them up online and pay attention to the due dates.

EASY A/B CLASS. Every lab theres a quiz, but its really simple review your notes from the board on the previous lab and same with lecture quizzes and you'll pass. The study guides he gives are simple and the key to passing the tests. He lets you use a flash card on the test so write small and draw the diagrams from lecture. Overall great teacher!

Please do yourself and your grade a favor and do not take this professor!! Spends all of lecture talking about his political views - does not cover any of the material, so its up to YOU to read it yourself outside of class. Except you have to show up to lecture for attendance so you are forced into wasting hours of your time every week. I withdrew.

I liked the tie-in to Climate Change. He said it would be a running theme throughout the class and it sure was. Easy going and the field trips were fun. PLUS, there are less labs at school because you get a lab day off for doing the field trips. Overall not too hard of a class if you study and show up.

A very passionate teacher who really seems to care about his students succes. My only warning is he is also very passionate about global warming. Some of his lectures felt like an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World. Initially I was empowered but when he continued to tie it into every lecture it became tiresome. Otherwise an excellent teacher/class
