THE BEST professor I've ever had. He geniunely wants you to learn and do well in his class. His tests are FAIR (all questions come from his notes) So as long as you give yourself enough time to study that material you will do well. Its not a class you can cram for the exams 10 minutes before class. I strongly recommend taking this class with him

There is a lot to memorize in this class for exams, but since he gives you all the notes where he draws the question from, the exams are fair (and non cumulative). From personal experience, background in biology or neuroanatomy is helpful, but not necessary. An A is still very achievable without such backgrounds.

Best prof for a 500 level course, he is fair and genuinely wants you to understand. He is very clear about what will be tested. Once you grasp the concept and mathematical procedures, the assignments/test/quizzes are not difficult at all.

This class is awesome. We are just watched Cheech and Chong, followed by Afroman. Seriously though, great class. Very helpful professor, he gives you all the notes you need for the tests, and you will learn a lot.

i LOVE hasselmo, hes my favorite prof. hes bit dorky but nonetheless interesting... i took physiopsych and then took this class and it wasnt that bad. he really tries to make the exams concise and easy too. if you just take good notes, you are set. if you do bad on one of the 3 exams but well on the rest, hell scale the bad one for you!i got an A-

Some students find this class really easy, I personally struggled initially having no background in neuroscience or physiological psych, but eventually caught up. His tests are fair, although require A LOT of memorization. He posts his lectures online which is a lifesaver. Wasn't crazy about the class, but he is absolutely adorable.

Personally, I thought this class (Drugs and Behavior) was very easy, but the fact that I'm a Neuroscience major plays into account. You don't have to take notes or go to his class at all. His exams are purely from his lecture, and he posts all of his lecture notes online.

I loved professor Hasselmo!!! He's very approachable, soft spoken, and very intelligent. I am a Biology major so the class wasn't anything new to me, but he does go fast. The book is useless, don't buy it. Read his lecture notes, and you'll do amazing!

topic isn't easy, but everything is really interesting and definitely good to know if you're getting into psych or medicine. he's obviously really intelligent, yet has that rare ability to explain everything really well. he "used to be in a cover rock band," and i think that alone explains why i already miss this guy :(

Great class. He is a bit of a dork. But was in a rock and roll band. Has difficulty answering questions that veer too far off lecture material, not familiar with less traditional ways of drug use and abuse. Very knowledgeable in the scope of the class! Tests are hard. Now the drugs forwards and backwards. Great guy!

i have to say that i really liked hasselmo. at first i thought his class was gonna be boring and sometimes the material does get tedious but his attempts to add funny personal jokes durin class makes it bearable. exams arent bad but u need to study the lecture notes to do well. just a genuinely really nice professor. ill def take his class again!

I was a little disappointed after taking this class. The time of the day and the way he lectured just did not work for me. Lectures tended to be a little boring. Regardless, it's a very interesting subject. Tests are hard and are based mostly on lecture notes, so study those! The book may help with some concepts, but not a must.

Genuinely nice person. He just seems like the sweetest guy and he's soft spoken, which makes his jokes all the more funny. Tests are hard but do-able, it just requires a lot of memorization. Don't expect an easy A.
