This Professor was a horrible teacher. Do NOT take him you won't learn anything even if you think you know History well his tests will surprise you. What he teaches was NOT on the tests. He also goes fast when teaching. He has his own old fashioned notes that are hard to understand. This teacher will be sure to lower your GPA.

Sweet man. Taught off his old notes and moved a little fast but hes aware of that and if you need him to slow down he will. He gave 3 tests and a book report. Super easy grader but his whole class is lecture so sometimes its like zzz but I mean unless youre a history major, thats how its gonna be. He came through with that A- tho!

PROF. michael matthews is a nice guy, BUT his tests are extremely difficult i would say nearly impossible. You could study and know everything, but when you see his test questions you will have no idea what is going on.

Do not take this class. Prof Matthews is a very nice guy. But his class is terrible. He has a old notebook he reads off of for an hour and a half straight. His tests are extremely difficult and often times have very little to do with what he spent time on in class.

PLEASE, I'M BEGGING YOU TO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. One thing I'll say about him is that he's a nice guy, but that's all that he has going for him. He talks way too fast during lectures, so it's hard to take down notes. He gives 3 tests, which are all nearly impossible to pass, a 10 page book report, and absolutely no extra credit. Save your GPA...

Hands down one of the most boring classes I've ever taken. The professor has a hard time pronouncing words so most of the time you can't tell what he's said. He talks the whole class with notes that look like they are from the 1800's. He gives 3 tests that aren't cumulative and one book report with no clear grading rubric. would not recommend

Hardest elective I have ever taken. The exams are extremely detailed. Did not have any office hours and would only speak to you after class, which was 10 minutes because he had another class right after. Doesn't care about effort but expects you to show up to every class. Tough, TOUGH grader. PLEASE AVOID IF YOU LOVE YOUR GPA

Nice personality, not mean at all. However, most boring class ever. Reads off his own notes and lectures all class long. No powerpoint or handouts. 3 tests, 1 book report. Easy class IF you learn easily by just listening to a lecture and taking notes. Tests are pretty difficult. Even worst when it's at 7:30 AM. I certainly didn't do good.

Prof. Matthews only gives 3 tests a semester and a book report. That's it. There's no homework. For an hour an a half straight all he did was talk. He talks fast, so it's very easy to miss things. He's a tough grader on the assignments he does give. Passing this class is a true struggle. Attendance is mandatory, otherwise you'd miss so many notes.

He is a nice and caring guy, not mean or anything. He just lectures the whole time. I barely read the textbook and did well but if you miss class you miss soon much information!!! He gives so many notes and his tests are very hard so you have to study EVERYTHING he says because he may put something on there so trivial. Overall it wasn't too bad.

His personality is great. He shows a natural love for history, however, I have never hated history so much until I entered this class. He literally talks the whole time. No discussions with students. Just talks and you take notes, a few classes later... BOOM: there's a test. RUN AWAY IF YOU WANT TO MAINTAIN A GOOD GPA!

Prof. Matthews class will definitely make you work very hard. You must go to class where he lectures the whole class. You also have to be a very good note taker as pretty much all the information on the test comes from the test. The test are fairly difficult. With that being said, I would have to say I learned a ton in this class

1) Attendance is mandatory because he covers approximately 2 chapters per class. 2) Food is okay to bring, prefers notebook but allows laptop. 3) 2 Tests, 1 Midterm, 1 Final (25-30 MC, 5 Short Answers, 1-2 Essays), and Book Report (8-12 Pgs) 4) Very long lectures, easily sidetracked, Prepare for notes, a lot is to come.

He gives help when you want it. Lectures are long and it's easy to understand if you have some past knowledge on the topic. If not than I suggest picking up the textbook and doing some reading. Only three test, and a 10 page book report.

Prof. Matthews is a great man. He loves history and shows it. He lectures most of the class, like most history teachers. His tests are clear if you take notes. Show up to class and he'll boost you up a half letter grade. If you suck at history and hate it, he's not your type of a teacher. Three tests, one paper. If you love history, take him.

Good teacher, but I definitely recommend to not take him for 7:30am classes. He gives long lectures and sometimes its hard to concentrate. Theres one paper and three tests, which include the final. Tests are kinda tough, make sure you study. The tests are based off the notes he gives in class.

If you put in effort, go to class, and take good notes, you'll get an A. I did bad on the 1st test but gradually did better and I ended up with an A. NO hw. He lectures all class which isn't bad because I just took notes on my laptop the whole time. Go to class and read the textbook.

Professor Matthews is the type of professor where you really have to pay attention to what he says in his lectures and take notes. Tests come directly from the notes. 3 exams and 1 book report. Overall if your the type to take good notes and pay attention you will do well in this class

Don't get me wrong, Professor Matthews is a great guy. He reminds me of my grandpa. However, he talks about history literally till the last second class is over. Also, him just talking during his 7:30 am classes can really make you fall asleep. His test are hard as hell, especially the multiple choice. If you're a bad test taker don't take him
