I took his class "The Movie Soundtrack" this past semester and had an absolute blast. Michael is one of, if not the most passionate and engaged professors I've ever had. His lectures were engaging, informative, clear, and concise. He is a wonderful public speaker and is full of knowledge. I loved this class, and I would recommend him to anyone!

Excellent teacher. Second time I've had him, just as good. Very knowledgeable, clear explanations, interesting and fun assignments. Feedback format works well. Fair but comprehennsive tests. Overall, an excellent teacher.

Amazing. Clear expectations and explanations, knows the material very well. One of the only teachers that I've had that has students submit assignments for feedback before submitting final versions, and his feedback is very insightful and varied. The class was great and he's a big reason why. I will definitely make an effort to have him again.

Great guy, extremely organized. He put in a LOT of time and energy preparing for this class in order to make it as easy as possible for the class each and every week. Very approachable, reasonable, knows his subject matter completely and explains well. Patient and cares about students.

By far the most clear, straightforeward, efficient and knowledgeable prof i've ever encountered. He knows exactly what he's teaching you, and exactly what is expected from the students and communicates these reasonable terms with the utmost clarity and ease. Not a single complaint.

By far the most diplomatic professor I've ever had. He's so clear and enthusiastic about Frank Zappa (I saw him getting a bit teary-eyed when he talked about when Zappa died). I only had a problem with the final project - it was extremely easy, but too much group work. Excellent excellent prof.

Michael is a very knowledgeable teacher who has an obvious passion for all sound-related matters. He is approachable, interesting and a fairly easy marker (isn't the entire COMS department easy). You'll learn a lot from the class if you're willing to invest the time to get through some of the dry readings, but he is quite thorough in class as well.
