This class was not exhausting, though it was difficult to improve writing with Professor Prince's minimal feedback. Passage identification reading quizzes are impossible, but he is terrible at sticking to the syllabus and will likely administer very few quizzes.

Amazing professor. Very accommodating and accessible. Truly cares about his students. Frequent short writing assignments mean that you're regularly getting feedback. He will make you a better writer. Assigned readings were thought provoking, and in-class discussions were lively and entertaining. Take this instead of WR150.

WOW! Prince is amazing. Never have I dealt with a professor who so genuinely wants to help you excel. He assigns a lot of work and will call on you a lot in class... but he is so helpful!

He is literally the best professor so far! He's super chill and will allow you to turn in paper late. He really wants you to learn things than just taking the class.

Professor Prince is by far the most sincerely helpful, supportive, and inspiring instructor I've had in any English course. Student participation is huge for him, in terms of the material selection and in-class discussion. He also seriously knows his stuff whenever the class (rarely) took a lecture-format--I actually wanted to hear him more! Great!

Prince is probably the most amazing professor I have ever had. His class is always interesting and he loves discussion in class. I am not an English-loving-student but he made this class extremely entertaining. The books are all wonderful and his papers are easy. The class is a substitute for WR 150. If you can, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!

The amount of writing is intensive, and the lectures are very important to attend if you wish to understand the material. Many books are read during the semester. He is a tough teacher, but my writing improved under his tutelage. The option to write parodies instead of analytical papers is the best option I've ever had!

Because he is from the writing department he requires a great deal of writing- too much considering the volume of reading required for the class. A very nice man, but unfair in his expectations- final exam was intense. Also, obsessed with everyone talking, so much so that he will tell you to put your hand down if you've already spoken that day.

Comment:
Professor comes from the writing 100 program, which explains why he wants an excessive amount of written work, but fails to address the reading. He also had a patronizing, condescending attitude towards the class, treating us like we were high school students. Although "welcoming" student's concerns, he always forceful rebutted them. Uninspiring.

I found Prince to be approachable, respectful and engaging. He does require that you work for your grade, and is sometimes unclear on his standards. Overall, he was very helpful in meeting with me one on one and did provide helpful guidance with my writing. I would definitely take a class with him again. He's very passionate about literature!

I took his classes in the 90s as well. I remember he was being considered for tenure then. He was an excellent teacher and very dedicated to his subject. He was, however, an English literature lovers' instructor. If you're not keen on the coursework, forget about it. If you are, the experience is as good as it gets.

I took several of Professor Prince's classes back in the 90's. Have recently received my masters and still firmly believe he is one of the best teachers I've been fortunate to experience. Passionate about the subject matter and dedicated to students and their interests, Professor Prince's approach was enthusiastic and inspiring.

Prof. Prince is amazing. Thorough is a perfect word to describe him. He is caring, he knows SO much about what he teaches that you can't help but get involved, and I came out of his class a much better writer. The people who don't like him are in lower level writing classes...if English is your thing, take his class. I learned so much from him.

I took Prof. Prince's graduate seminar on the novel (five students) and found him to be one of the most thorough professors I have ever had. He truly appreciated the thrust of our questions and pushed very hard on our output. There was a ton of work in the class, but it was all relevant and worthwhile. Prince was respectful, helpful and responsive.

I took Core Humanities with this guy a while back. He is hard to get along with. His comments on your papers are rarely helpful. When he opened up the floor to discussion, he immediately lost control of the classroom and the class talked about tangent topics for an hour; when he lectured, he put us all to sleep. One of the worst teacher's I've had.
