Comment:

Dr. Stack is a decent professor, and he goes over topics thoroughly and for the most part explicitly stated the main ideas that were to be tested. He sometimes can be a little confusing and unclear and his examples aren't always the best, but for the most part I'd say he is okay. Dr. Rob Shaver however, is a better choice if you can get him.

Comment:

Dr Stack is a very nice man, however I will not be taking another course taught by him. His handouts are from wikipedia, and the textbook is virtually useless. His lectures are not organized, and he never emphasizes important points. Nice guy, not the greatest prof.

Dont listen to what people say, Prof Stack is a great prof and is very interesting to listen to. I loved his philosophy of religion class and liked his classes because it made you really think.

Comment:

Ethics of War and Peace was a great class. Michael brought a lot of handouts but they were interesting to read, also helps clarify what he goes over in class. There is 2 tests and one essay. If you need any clarifications Michael is willing to help. This class let's you hear different opinions and express your own thoughts! Highly recommended!

Wow do NOT take this guy. This guys teaching methods are awful. His voice is low, he stutters, he doesnt have notes he just rambles on and you have to somehow keep up with that. The quizes and tests are OK. You dont need a textbook.

Stack clearly knows little about what he's discussing in class. Marking was ambiguous and essay questions were incoherent (to put it nicely). Taking his class will be a waste of your time and money.

After reading some of his reviews I was nervous about taking his course, but I thought he was a great prof. He is extremely vague about what he is looking for in terms of assignments, but if you go to class and do the readings the course is a breeze. Some of the topics discussed were kind of useless, but overall it was an interesting course.

No matter how hard I tried to pay attention, I found myself looking out the window or doing homework for another class. Nothing made sense to me. He is a nice guy though. Likes to bring his dog to class. Overall, the class itself was easy, it just seemed pointless.

Prof. Stack is extremely intelligent and thought-provoking. If philosophy isn't your thing, if you are close-minded, or if you are simply dumb, this course won't be for you. If you can't practice philosphy yourself, you will not do well in this course. This course has very little theory, but you engage into actual philosophy instead. Great course.

Really great prof, easy to approach and answers questions clearly. Uses easy to comprehend examples to illustrate the point. Textbook is virtually useless if you go to class regularly. Love when he brings his dog!

This guy is beyond dull. He NEVER has anything relevant to say regarding course work. His analogies and examples are vague. I have yet to take any notes in his class because he has said literally NOTHING of value. Everything he says is obvious common sense or irrelevant. I've learned nothing about war ethics. Just the same tired examples over again

Stack is a good prof. He provides interesting and thought provoking stories to get his ideas accross. He has a good sense of humour. Downside: his writing on the chalkboard is illegible. HE can't read it two mintues later. You have to keep up if you want the notes! Overall great prof.

I'm sure he is very smart and helpful if it wasn't for his incredibly dull way of teaching. I actually fell asleep in his class and that has never happened to me before. I simply couldn't open my eyes an dhis voice lulled me into deep slumber.

If you actually focus and take the time to listen he is an awesome prof. I really enjoyed his class and people get bad marks in this class because of lack of effort and inconsistency in attendence. If you're there and you listen, your marks will reflect that!!!

EXTREMELY BORING!! Gives bad marks for NO reason, and doesn't ever explain why! He totally plays favourites with people who talk too much. Hard to follow, erratic teaching style. Bad notes. (in fact, almost no notes at all!) Avoid!!

Good prof. One of the nicest professors you will ever meet. He has a sharp sense of humor too! Problems? Either it was the time of the class (10:30, or him, but I found it hard to stay awake in his class. Sometimes it was impossible. Still, this is an interesting class... if you can stay awake
