Although he knows the subject material very well, he is pompous about it. If you do not do something exactly the way he wants it, even if you turn in quality work, he will penalize you harshly and dock points off of your grade. He is very nit-picky and even went so far to take a condescending tone both in email and in person. wouldnt take it again

Professor Twomey was very nice and always centered the class around the students. He is very organized and always makes assignments clear and gives plenty of time. It is easy to tell that he loves Medieval literature and knows a lot about it, which makes the class interesting.

I took Twomey for Medieval Literatuer and absolutely fell in love with both him and the subject matter. He's incredibly intelligent and maybe not for everyone, but I LOVED that class and now love Medieval Lit because of him. Completely recommend his class to everyone.

Wonderful professor, fascinating class. He's very passionate about the subject - not to mention well-informed. He cares about his students success, (especially if they make an effort) and his feedback on papers was invaluable; my writing drastically improved. He got the whole class excited about the subject by the end of the semester.

I cried when I got my first paper back and seriously thought he was an elitist jerk. Then I listened and applied his feedback to my papers and seriously matured as a writer. I wouldn't know how to write if he hadn't criticize my work so accurately and thoroughly. Thanks Twomey, You're amazing! If you can't handle the truth- find another teacher.

Took an honors seminar with him. Very condescending and randomly decides he dislikes certain students at the beginning of the semester. Inconsistent grader who seems to like papers the more simple and stupid they are. He grows on you a little, but I wouldn't recommend him.

Worst teacher at IC. He will randomly pick out students he does not like and create all hell for them throughout the semester. He made a subject that i was so interested in a nightmare for me. I would rather transfer than take another class with him.

My least favorite professor at Ithaca College. He has a personal vendetta against random students he selects. He told me I don't think before I speak, I can't write, and my style of thinking is unorganized and unclear. The other English professors I've had have praised only me for doing well. Twomey is just rude, arrogant, and unfair man.

I don't know why there are so many comments about him being pompous and arrogant, I really did not get that impression at all in my class. The subject bored me to tears but Twomey was enthusiastic and made himself very available to his students.

Twomey is an awesome guy. He takes an interest in students on a personal level and if you're having trouble, he will not just sit back and let you mess up. After I met with him about a crappy paper and rewrote it, from then on I never got a bad grade cause he knew how hard I was trying. Yes its hard, yes, its confusing. Stay on your toes and READ

The class is a great class and i feel like ive learned alot. He is brilliant and definitely knows his material. However, he is very arrogant and close minded. I love this class! He has an extensive knowledge of the material. The discussions are helpful. He is helpful with papers and what his expectations are. The readings are interesting and the way in which they are discussed is useful in the tests and papers. I disagree that he is arrogant. He is always open to what students have to say.

He's a very good teacher. He knows his subject inside out, and he loves teaching it. I completely disagree that he's arrogant. He's kind and he's fair, as well as interesting. He won't let you BS, but that's a good thing. If you want to learn from a master, he's your guy.

Worst professor since the Middle Ages. Made the topic, which I had been interested in, thoroughly tedious via arrogance, & via refusal to discuss interpretations of thematic elements of the literature which did not conform to his rigid outlook on the subject. Whether or not he was brilliant, his class was completely useless due to his pompousness.
