Comment:

Hes absolutely amazing! Very knowledgeable but also clear and simple lectures for students to understand. Work load isnt that bad for a poli class (2 summaries, a paper and a final) and grades are 100% fair. Doesnt use power point so go to lecture. Kind, easy to approach and super passionate about IR. Visit him in office hours, helpful.

This guy needs to learn the difference between a year 2 curse and year 4 course. Compared to all my year 2 classes the course load is double with him. AVOID

Changes the schedule every day. He is never pleased. This is the only class where everybody is complaining about the same thing. His grading style is my way or the highway. He hires TAs that don;t speak english, gives them a list of points they should grade on, if every point is not on on your paper/exam, you're screwed. Worst prof so far at UVic.

He is such a sweetheart. He really likes to discuss information with the class and any information in which the class may be confused about. He also has a really positive vibe to him which makes him a good prof. to have at 9:30 am.

Really knowledgable and kind proff. If you attend class, and work incredibly hard, you will do fine. If you do not put in lots of effort however, you will do poorly. It was my lowest grade this semester being a 68, and the class average was a 61... For a 3rd level Poli Sci course this is a bit rough if you ask me.

Michael Webb is undoubtedly the best professor I've had at UVic. If you pay undivided attention to his lectures (absolutely do not try to take notes using only his "slides", you need to attend class) and do the key/main readings, you'll do fine. He's unbelievably caring and attentive toward students, and has fantastic on-the-spot answers. Amazing!

Dr. Webb is hands down an amazing professor. He is kind, hilarious, respectful, wise, intelligent, and a great lecturer. I'm not sure why everyone thinks of him as a tough grader. I think his grading really just the average (but fair) level of difficulty in political science.

Dr. Webb is an extremely nice and approachable prof. I found the class pretty boring, however, and I skipped probably more classes than I should have. Attend class, study hard for the midterm and put in decent work into your paper and you should be able to get an A. He is a hard marker though.

Michael was an amazing prof for a dry subject like International Political Economy. His lectures helped tremendously with the concepts studied (although he did get distracted quite a few times, but nevertheless entertaining and informing). Fair grader on the essay and final.

This class was cross-listed between SOSC, ES & POLI. Engaging, hands-on class and assignments. Michael is smart, approachable, and very likeable. He is interested in what students have to say and keen to get them active in the classroom discussions. I really appreciated his presence in the classroom and the work he put into developing this class.

By far the clearest, most interesting, and easy to follow professor of POLI103. He gave us multiple definitions of terms, real life examples as well as theoretical ones. Definitely gave the best lectures and was the saving grace of the course. The readings were more diverse than the textbook which helped keep it interesting.

Had him as one of 3 profs in Poli 103. Wasn't interested in International Politics whatsoever. Dr. Webb sparked my interest. His passion for IR and IPE is contagious! Do the assigned readings. Not necessarily in your text, but posted online

Dr. Webb is a great prof, not an easy prof. His energy and enthusiasm in class is almost unparalleled, and he's quick to debate anyone in class who's up for a challenge (respectfully of course). You'll have to work for your grade, but if you take one of his classes and work hard, you'll be better off for it.

Extremely intereting prof. One of the most educated and quick profs, he will have a rebutle for everything, be prepared. Marking wise, quite difficult, but he explains everything well. He's still one of the top poli profs at UVIC. Overall good class. Don't take it if your expecting a great mark for average work.

Hard Prof, Marks extremely hard and expects the students to know as much as he does about given topics, and if they don't he docks marks for it. Very specific in what he wants, all of my marks went down after he remarked from the TA's. Avoid Iraq war in essays, or you will fail if you don't know every soldiers name etc. way to specific for 2nd yr

Dr. Webb is a fabulous prof. He takes extraordinarily difficult subject matter and makes it comprehensible without oversimplifying. Unlike the vast majority of poli profs he gives equal credit to(and is equally critical of) each theoretical perspective. His exams/essays and marking are incredibly fair - but his expectations are high.

Boring. Treated the class like they were a bunch of idiots, moved so slow he had to cut sections from the syllabus! He turned a very interesting topic into dry, uninspiring material. The midterm was marked ridiculously hard for questions that seemed quite straight-forward. Avoid him.

After 3 years at Uvic, Dr. Webb is hands-down my favourite prof. Great lectures, explains everything very clearly...gets distracted at times and goes off on hilarious tangents (and rants about corn). Very helpful during office hours, and really cares about his students.
