i took this in second semester of freshman year because i placed into it and hadn't taken spanish since junior year of high school. i got over a 94 on every exam. as long as you look at the book before exams, do the online homework (google it for easy answers), and occasionally participate in class, you will do fine. he gives extra credit too.

Took a translation class with him. Throughout the entire semester he failed to teach what separates a good translation from a bad one. Grades seem to be chosen arbitrarily; he provides no feedback on assignments. Class was a joke and so was he.

Prof. Zapata is a chill guy, he's just a terrible teacher. He stumbles through each class and seems offended if we don't understand something. He actively calls people out for not doing well, and then proceeds to praise those who do. His tests are considerably difficult, thanks to a lack of teaching. If you study on your own, you'll pass.

Zapata is truly a great guy, just not the best professor in my opinion. His assignments were often unclear and the completion of readings were not enforced well. Not a lot of feedback on any of our presentations or papers as well

Hes a great guy. Attendance matters. Dont save the HW to the last minute! Gives extra credit. Class is really a joke, just go and do other work. RECOMMEND and would take again. Also just get the supersite code it has an online textbook

All of his classes are no work at all, maybe some reading once in a while but if you skim it's fine. Literally show up (or don't), do the one assignment of the whole semester which will probably be like a 6 pg paper, and you're fine. Recommended for someone that needs a class they don't have work for, but not if you really want to learn something.

Decent professor. If you like speaking and participating it's an easy A. Your midterm is a 10 minute long speech that isnt very clear, but if he likes you you'll be fine. As a person he's interesting and funny, always tells stories and ends class early. Take him if you like Spanish, but otherwise dont bother.

He's so laid back. Seriously the easiest class I've ever taken. If you're looking for an easy grade take this one. There's tons of extra credit and he tells you the layout of the tests so you know what to study. The only downside is that there are a lot of online homeworks and sometimes his directions are unclear. Other than that I can't complain.

Good professor. He is laid back and rarely kept us the full length of class. In addition to the tests and quizzes, he has an oral presentation and a paper - neither are tough, just try your best and he will give you a good grade. Class participation is a big part of your grade. Not a bad class.

An awesome, laid back, funny professor. Makes the subject fun and simplifies everything so much. Very patient with students and encourages participation. Always available after class for extra help. I'm glad I took Spanish with him. Take take take!

BEST professor I've ever had here. Coming into Spanish 4 after a few years of not taking it scared me but it was a breeze. He is so laid back with the classes and with the tests. This class was easier than Spanish 3. Tests were easy, didn't have to do labs, and easy/quick presentation at the end. DEFINITELY recommend this teacher to everyone!!

Great Professor! Is always willing to help, i took spanish 4 with him after not taking spanish for years, was very rusty and still got an A in the class! If you know a little spanish and are willing to put in the effort he will do all he can to help you. I highly recommend taking him.

Best spanish professor at Hofstra. He truly wants everyone to do well and he gives you every opportunity to do so. He will help you out if you are confused, give extra credit assignments and overall it is a very laid back class. He is also a really nice guy and nothing bad can be said about this professor.
